As they walked hand in hand, Clara gazed up at Joe with curiosity. "Joe, my love, where are we going?" she asked.
Joe's eyes sparkled with excitement. "We're going on our honeymoon, Clara. We're going to celebrate our traditional wedding. You're now my wife, and we need some quality time together."
Clara's expression faltered, and she replied, "But we always have quality time, Joe. The house is always empty."
Joe's gaze turned thoughtful, and he asked, "Speaking of the house being empty, how many kids do you want?"
Clara's cheeks flushed, and she looked down, her voice barely above a whisper. "Only God knows. I've never thought about that. I believed I was still young for planning kids. ."
The atmosphere shifted, and Clara felt a pang of sadness. She had bigger dreams than just being a mother.
Joe's expression softened, and he said, "Okay, I'll see what I can do. I can give you eight."
Clara laughed, trying to lighten the mood. "No, that's too much for me."
As they boarded the plane, Clara's anxiety resurfaced. "Joe, I didn't pack a bag. I don't have anything to wear."
Joe reassured her, "Don't worry about that, my love. It's all sorted everything is under control. We already have clothes, handbags, and everything you need. I've prepared for it."
As the plane took off, Clara felt a mix of emotions: excitement, anxiety, and a hint of sadness. The flight from Harare to Cape Town took approximately 2 hours.
As the plane touched down in Cape Town, Clara's excitement grew. They were whisked away to a luxurious hotel, where they arrived just as the sun dipped below the horizon.
As they stepped into the opulent lobby, Clara turned to Joe and asked, "Joe, aren't you supposed to be in a meeting?"
Joe smiled and replied, "The meeting's been postponed until tomorrow. I'll meet my client then."
The next day, after Joe's meeting, they decided to spend the day together, like a proper date. They started with a romantic lunch at a seaside restaurant, watching the waves crash against the shore as they savored their meal.
Next, they visited the famous Cape Town Ferris wheel, taking in breathtaking views of the city from high above. They even shared a sweet kiss at the top, feeling carefree and joyful.
Afterward, they headed to a trendy arcade, where they competed in friendly games of air hockey and skeeball, laughing at each other as they played.
As the sun began to set, they strolled hand-in-hand along the picturesque waterfront, pausing to admire the street performers and live music. They even shared a delicious ice cream cone, savoring the sweet treat as they gazed out at the ocean.
As the stars began to twinkle overhead, Joe turned to Clara and smiled. "I'm so glad we did this, my love. You deserve a day of fun and relaxation."
Clara's heart swelled with emotion, feeling grateful for this rare moment of happiness with Joe.
As Clara lay in bed, she couldn't shake off the feeling that she was falling for Joe. She thought to herself, "What's happening to me? Why did I kiss him? Why did I return his kiss?" She glanced over at Joe, who was sleeping peacefully on the other side of the bed.
After a while, Clara got out of bed and decided to take a bath. She had already bathed after their date, but she couldn't sleep and needed something to calm her mind.
As she was bathing, Joe woke up and asked, "Clara, are you okay? Why are you bathing at this time?" Clara replied, "I just can't sleep."
Joe offered to tell her a bedtime story, and Clara agreed. Joe began to tell her the story of the Tortoise and the Hare. Clara laughed and teased him, saying, "Joe, how can you tell me such a tale? We all know that story."
Joe smiled and said, "It's not about the story, my love. It's about the lesson. Don't be so proud and arrogant; pride comes before a fall, and remember that there's always someone who can do better than you." He added, "You're still a child, Clara."
Clara's eyes narrowed, and she asked, "If I'm still a child, why did you marry me? You knew I was young, and yet you still went ahead with it."
Joe's expression turned somber, and he said, "I'm sorry, Clara. I didn't mean to hurt you. Growing up, I didn't have time to mingle with girls. I didn't know how to approach them. When I saw you, I fell in love with you. I know I did wrong by kidnapping you, and I'm truly sorry."
As Joe poured out his heart, Clara's eyelids began to droop, and she eventually fell asleep. She didn't hear Joe's entire apology, but she knew one thing - Joe was still her enemy, and she needed to take action. She was determined to escape, go back to school, and rebuild her life.
