Henry was human.
But that didn’t matter. Not to me, anyway.
The fact that he was a mere human made things easier. It wasn’t like I had to worry about anything beyond the usual. No, the real problem was Camilla. I’d seen her with Malakai. Even though she tries to distance herself from him, I still see the longing in her eyes and I hated it.
And that’s where Henry came in. I wasn’t here to make friends with him. I was here to use him.
I had to get close to him, to wrap him around my finger, to make him believe that I was just a friend—*a confidante*—. In truth, the only thing I wanted from him was Camilla out of the picture. And if that meant I had to get Henry to do my dirty work? So be it.
