A Heartfelt Conversation

Brielle's POV No matter how hard Elijah and I tried to spend time together, it just wasn't happening. We kept getting interrupted and driven apart by other people, whether visitors, friends, distant relatives, or someone else; people just kept getting us apart. And it was a good thing because my brothers kept looking at us suspiciously. "Do you think they know Sierra?" I asked my wolf who chuckles. This love-sick pup has done nothing but whine every time Eli and I are apart. "Probably. Their wolves are anxious too. I think they might know, I mean look at Xavie... he's scrunching up his nose, and lips puckered up like he always does when he's mad." She says, making me turn to my brother Xavier, making me chuckle. And sure enough, he was making his angry face. "Don't mind him, he's always been the jealous type with me since we were kids," I added, making her chuckle. "True. True." She says. When the clock ticked a little after eight in the evening, Eli and I finally caught up to each other, but not for long. My brother Alexander was ready to party. The music turned up, the lights went down, followed by rave lights making me grunt inwardly. If there is one thing young werewolves love to do, it is drink and party. My brothers are no exception when it comes to finally loosening up. Alexander came and dragged Elijah along, introducing him to the visiting young alphas who were attending tonight's event and partying away. They were having shots like there was no tomorrow, downing them one after another and making Eli drink with them. Xavier, the more serious one, still kept a close eye on Eli, looking at me from time to time. "Brielle?" I heard a familiar voice, making me turn with a bright smile. "Autumn? Mateo!" I exclaimed, jumping with joy as I saw my cousin walking toward me. They both engulfed me in a tight hug, making me feel overjoyed. As kids, we spent a lot of time together playing in the courtyards of each other's houses or attending receptions. We would often tag along with our parents to meetings and gatherings, so we were left to be on our own with the omegas who took care of us in the garden. We spent A LOT of time playing together while waiting for our parents' meetings to end. However, as the years passed and we grew older, we became busy with our own affairs. I spent more time doing my things and less time tagging along with Mom and Dad. We saw each other less and less. I missed them so much. Autumn and Mateo weren't like the idiots I see every day here. Don't get me wrong, my dad has always been strict with our pack, and bullying is looked down upon. Everyone is really nice, for the most part. However, there are exceptions, like Lorie and her friends or Bryant and his knucklehead buddies. Autumn and Mateo were nothing like Lorie and Bryant. They are kind, extremely witty, and above all... the best friends you could ever rely on. "I'm so glad you guys finally came." "Brie... please! We wouldn't miss this for the world." Autumn says, holding my hands as she smiles. "Come, let's go take our seats with the rest. I'm dying for a drink." Mateo says, making Autumn and me roll our eyes. I will repeat myself-- if there is one thing we know — werewolves loved to party and drink. Especially because we are so tolerant of alcohol. It takes a lot for us to begin feeling the effects of alcohol in our system. I was sitting at the table next to Autumn and her brother Mateo. They were Alpha Hunter and Luna Abigail's kids. In front of me was my little brother Brandon, with my cousins, Mandy and Elizabeth next to Brandon. They are Uncle Brandon's kids. Next to them were my brothers, Xavier and Alexander, among other friends. Eli was in the middle of Xavier and Alexander, giving me puppy eyes that said, 'help me', making me chuckle. You could say our table was overcrowded with the elite of the allied packs. We were all either the alpha's kids or the beta's kids. I felt at home with them. Despite rumors that most alpha kids are snobs, we knew better than to stay humble and respectful. We knew the importance of being polite and getting work done. Yet, I was different. Something in me said I was different. I feel it. I just... don't know what, but I do, I've always felt different. And it makes me feel insecure. I looked to the side as we laughed and talked, and I cringed to see Lorie's eyes on me. She was throwing daggers my way, making my wolf growl. I clenched my jaw and tried to calm my wolf. It was as if my parents and brothers had sensed it. I felt a hand tap my shoulder, making me look up. "Brie, come with me, honey." I hear Mom say, making me skip a beat. Dad did the same, patting my brothers and Eli's shoulders. Mom led me to a room where Dad was sitting. My brother followed soon after, making me puzzled. "What's going on?" I ask as Mom gestures for me to sit. "That's what I'd like to know," Dad says, interlocking his fingers as he sits on his desk. "Brie, I've been informed of a few mishaps recently. I know Mom and I have been away a few days, but you know I'm here for you. Your brothers are here for you, and so is Eli. Why haven't you told us you were having issues with Lorie in school again?" Dad says, trying to calm his wolf as he looks at me with mixed emotions, undoing his hands and fisting them tightly. I roll my eyes and sigh, taking a seat on a chair in front of Dad's desk. My brothers are taking a seat next to Eli, right behind me, in the sitting area that Dad had inside his office.
