Anger

Chapter 10 "Cordelia, please stop, stop," Paul called, lifting his hand as soon as he got outside. Cordelia had already entered the car in anger and was about to drive leaving him. She finally stopped and Paul hurried to it. "What were you trying to do? Leave me here and go?" He asked, his voice was sharp and a hint of disbelief flashed through his face. However, Cordelia didn't answer him a word. She came took her seat near the driver's seat allowing Paul to take his place at the driver's side. He glanced at her then shifted his attention back to the steering and then sped off. "Cordelia! You need to learn how to control your anger. That was too bad of you trying to cause a scene in such a big company. Do you not know what damages it will cause to our company?" Paul asked, a hint of worry in his voice as he drove through the town. "I don't care to know what it will cause. Do you expect me to stay calm and absorb such a manner from that so-called new CEO? Huh?" "I know how painful it is but...." "But what? Tell me who does that? He approved our proposal and terminated it just within an hour. Don't you know he has already tarnished our company's image?" Paul was silent as Cordelia said that. She was right but he didn't know why the new CEO chose to do what he did. However, he tried to make Cordelia calm. "I understand but I think that it's not the right time to be angry as you are now. We're going to see the CEO some other time, and we're going to talk sense into him, and I believe he will approve our proposal again." He consoled. "He better do." "I believe he will." He assured. And that was the last word that was heard in the car as they headed home. ******* Michael arrived back at 4 p.m., and he was hearing a loud noise from the living room, and his heart began panting heavily. It was his father-in-law and mother-in-law and his wife who were shouting at his wife so too loudly. And he knew he was in serious trouble again. "You worthless man, where are you coming from by this time of the day? Did I not tell you to come home early so you will prepare something for the family to eat?" Rose barked at him as soon as he entered inside. She was so angry that she walked to him and gave him a tight slap. Meanwhile, everyone stood as they watched, but when Grandma Isabella tried to intervene, she was stopped. "Mom, you don't have to involve yourself in this. He deserves everything he's receiving." Stephen was too fast to stop her and she yielded since she wasn't that strong. "Rose! I'm sorry that I came back late. I promise that I won't do it again; it's just that there was enough work that I was attending to in the office." He answered as he held onto where Rose had slapped him. "Office? Which office are you talking about and what works were you attending to?" Stephen was so smart that he asked immediately. "Oh, I meant to say I was busy running some errands to earn some bucks." He was covered with grit. "You'll never amount to something." He let out an annoying sigh and left. "I'm sorry everyone. I'll quickly go and prepare something to eat." He announced and hurried away. "Look at how dirty he looks." Maria frowned as she watched him walk away. Meanwhile, as Michael was in the kitchen preparing, Grandma Isabella walked in. Her face filled with pity as she glanced at him. "My son, how are you doing?" "I'm fine, Grandma. Do you need me to do anything for you?" "Not all." She chuckled. "I'm just not happy since the way they treat you. I'm sorry for all that." Tears welled down from Michael hearing Grandma Isabella say that. "Grandma, you don't need to apologize for a single thing. It's all my fault that I'm been treated this way." He wept. "Don't cry, Michael. It's never your fault, and you don't deserve a single of their mistreatment. It's not your fault that you can't provide for the family. But I believe everything will be ok soon." "Will it ever be? Because I don't think it will...." Before he could finish his sentence, Grandma Isabella shut him up as she held his lips with her fingers. "Don't say that. I know you become successful, and you'll be the kind of husband that's suited for Rose." She said and also joined him in crying. Seeing her in that state, Michael quickly wiped off his tears and held her softly. "Why are you crying with me, Grandma?" "Is it a crime to do so? When they have chosen to treat you like you're a nonhuman?" "No, Grandma. You don't have to. Please, wipe off your tears and don't cry again. As you see, I have stopped mine, so you should stop crying like a baby." He chuckled, trying to make her stop which he did. But he felt pained at the spot where he had been slapped as he smiled. However, he put up a facade as he spoke. "Promise me that you're not going to cry again like this." "I promise but you must also agree that you won't also cry as you did." "I agree." They smiled, and Grandma Isabella insisted on helping him in the kitchen, but he retorted. "No. I would like to assist you since you have been the only one who has been doing everything in the house. You're a human, and you deserve some rest, too." He smiled heavily before replying. "Don't worry about me, Grandma because I'm used to it. Just don't worry, I'll do everything." After several persuasions, Grandma Isabella finally agreed, and she left the kitchen, leaving him alone. He took a deep breath and began to prepare the lunch as fast as possible.
