Elizabeth's POV The first knock came soft, almost hesitant, like a warning. I was lying on my bed, textbooks spread across my lap, but my body went rigid. My recent encounter with Ethan had me on my toes. My hostel was usually quiet, with very few rooms. Everybody minded their own business, hence the quietness. I told myself it could be anyone. A coursemate. A hostel official. Maybe the girl next door is borrowing my extension cord.
