Special Reason

Now Key and Ervan looked serious. Ervan was waiting for Key to speak up and share her perspective, even though Ervan had briefly obtained information about Key from his secretary, whom he had specifically asked to find out anything about Key—Cailey. The thin curve of her lips and her eyes staring at Ervan seemed to tell him that she would tell him. Honestly, Key's heart was slowly starting to open to trust Ervan, who was now close to her. Was she wrong to let the door of her heart open? Who knows! Hopefully, this time her small action wouldn't be a misstep. "I will tell you, but maybe some..." There was another pause that felt like it hung between Key's words. Ervan simply smiled faintly and tried to stroke the back of the girl's hand, implicitly reassuring her that everything would be okay. Key spoke again, trying to explain why she had said what she had said before, simply because if she tried to force herself to talk further, her head would throb with pain. Ervan frowned for a moment, but soon nodded, indirectly telling Key that he would be a good listener with open arms. Of course, Key, receiving this response, simply smiled in return. There was no reason for her not to tell Ervan what she'd been keeping to herself, was there? Key, who was about to speak up, was suddenly interrupted by Ervan. "Key, you shouldn't call me uncle anymore. I don't want to be compared to those two bodyguards," Ervan said suddenly, folding his arms across his chest. Key blinked a few times, staring at Ervan, who she thought was a little childish. If Ervan didn't want to be called uncle, then what should he call him? "Just call me Ervan," Ervan said in response to Key's unspoken question. Key frowned in confusion. "Isn't your name Galen? Uncle Ethan and Uncle Chan call you Mr. Galen, right?" Key asked, remembering what Ethan and Chan had told her. Ervan nodded and told Key that they were calling her by her last name, while 'Ervan' was his first name. Key quickly nodded, understanding Ervan's words. "Okay, Uncle Ervan," Key said, a sweet grin spreading across his face. Ervan sighed softly before telling Key about his refusal to call him uncle. Oh come on, is Ervan that old? Ervan is a young executive who will only be 34 this year, so can he be considered old? Hearing Ervan's words, Key didn't immediately refute Ervan's refusal, but was busy grumbling to herself. She had been taught by her parents, both professors and an Asian parent, to always respect her elders, even if she wasn't currently in an Asian country. Key quickly shook her head at Ervan. Ervan sighed deeply. He didn't understand why Key was so difficult to explain. Hadn't he already emphasized that he didn't want to be treated the same way? "Then you don't have to call them Uncle, so you have a special reason for calling me Uncle." "Reason? What do you mean Uncle?" Ervan chuckled slightly, suggesting that it was quite mischievous if he considered the term "uncle" a special term Key had given him. Key instinctively slapped his forehead lightly. He hadn't expected to hear such a ridiculous remark from Ervan. "How?" Key inevitably agreed. Besides, his current position didn't allow him to refuse, right? He was still at Ervan's house! Shortly after, Ervan returned to the original topic, asking for the rest of the story Key was about to tell him. "So... --" Key left his sentence hanging as Ervan's gaze and attention, which were already fully focused on Key, became much more focused. "I-... I'm not going to tell you, Uncle. I suddenly got amnesia because of Uncle Ervan." Key babbled, her hand covering her mouth to hold back her laughter. "Damn this kid!" Ervan exclaimed in his mind, quite annoyed at Key for seemingly toying with him. Key, realizing Ervan was quite irritated by her behavior, finally told Ervan that she had completely forgotten the sentence he had previously formulated in his head. Ervan couldn't help but agree with Key's words and tried to calm himself down for a moment. "Go get some rest," Ervan said finally. Hearing those words, Key remained motionless, as if she hadn't heard the older man's words. "Key?" Ervan asked, confused. The beautiful girl didn't answer or make a sound; all she did was hum, with one hand signaling for Ervan to rest first, before her. Ervan was silent for a moment, trying to decipher the message implied by Key's gesture. Until he realized something odd about Key's behavior. "Ah, it seems Key has her own trauma." "Uncle will accompany you. You haven't rested at all, have you?" Ervan said, ending with a question at the end. Key unconsciously bit the corner of her lip, as if considering Ervan's invitation. Honestly, what Ervan said was right, but she still wondered whether Ervan's presence would prevent the dream from occurring, or whether it would still haunt her regardless. "Just trust Uncle Ervan. Everything will be fine. That dream won't happen," Ervan said softly. Key's eyes immediately widened, and her face clearly showed her surprise at Ervan's words. Does Uncle already know about my past, which is always my nightmare? That was Key's quick, astute thought. Ervan finally had no choice but to tell Key that he didn't know about the nightmare in Key's memory either, but he remembered Key's reaction to the nightmare when Key first arrived at his villa. After listening to Ervan's lengthy, yet still reasonable, reasoning, Key took a deep breath, as if he had just overcome a very dangerous obstacle. "Never mind, don't think about it," Ervan said, gently caressing Key's cheek, and taking her hand to lead her to rest in Key's guest room. Like an obedient child, Key followed Ervan's steps, who was in front of him. For a moment, Key's gaze fell on Ervan's alluring body, which looked perfect for a teenage girl. "So Uncle Ervan has a great body too, like boyfriend material. If only Key had-" "NO!!! You must be crazy, Key!" Key suddenly screamed, realizing her ridiculous daydream about the young man before her, still faithfully holding her hand. Ervan, startled by Key's sudden cry, immediately stopped in his tracks and turned to face Key, who remained silent with his mouth shut. "Are you okay? Did something surprise you? And what did you mean by what you said earlier?" Ervan asked continuously without a pause. Her mouth seemed to be sealed shut, and she actually tried to open it slightly, but she felt that if she said what had honestly crossed her mind, it would definitely have repercussions. He was too embarrassed for that! That was also why Key chose to remain silent, busily shaking his head. "You brat," Ervan snapped, slightly grumbling at Key, who then walked back to where she had originally intended to go, which was none other than Key's room—Cailey Anastasia. ‘Huh~, luckily Uncle didn't ask too many questions.’ — TBC
