Chapter 2Paxton Sallow held in a groan as he took in the room of cubicles. He’d promised himself never to work any kind of office job ever again, but here he was. He could feel his soul withering with each breath he took. “You’ll sit over here.” Andrea, a no-nonsense woman in her mid-forties, gestured over the room, and he wondered where here was. There were sixteen desks to choose from. “You’ll share a desk with Jace. He works mornings and you work evenings. You use the same computer.” Pax held in yet another groan. He wouldn’t get his own work laptop? Someone else would see everything he did, everything he downloaded, what music he listened to, and so on.
