LOST

And this beads of perspiration stood out on his forehead, with the lines of altitude that waved across his ruddy cheek as he snapped his teeth furiously. "So what are we going to do now I am pregnant?", She asked him again after breaking the news of pregnancy to him. "I don't know, I am not responsible for that pregnancy you w***e", he roared at her, and her skin became damp with sweats of fear. And before she could utter another word he pushed her out of the way and left with rage. She couldn't believe Henry could do that to her after all the love they shared. Now she was sitting on the fence of dilemma, shattered, scared, broken, lost and thinking of how to explain her pregnancy to her sadistic uncle who took her in after she lost her parents in a ghastly accident at the age of 12, and considering the fact that he has been molesting her every night before she gained admission and got pregnant just right after the conclusion of her year one first semester. How could that even happen, just first year? It wasn't totally her fault especially when she was still a juvenile who was lied to just to be lured to bed by a scalawag. "You're what? Oh! Virgin Mary is pregnant, you must be joking", Uncle Sam replied sarcastically as she told him of her pregnancy. "Please, I'm sorry, it was a mistake. I never wanted any of this to happen", she pleaded with tears running down her cheeks. "Shut up you sanctimonious w***e, so I sent you to school to get pregnant? Such an ungrateful brat. Do I look like your dead parents?", he scolded her looking at her fiercely with those creepy eyes. "I told you this girl is something else, but you didn't believe me, look at her with those crocodile tears in her eyes, snake", Angela his wife added fuel to the fire. "Pack your bags and go to your boyfriend's house. I don't want to see you in this house again Annie", he said as they threw her out of the house. And so that was how I was born and raised by a single mother who was thrown out of the house because of unwanted pregnancy. She was betrayed, despised, disappointed, lied to, abandoned, and so she wandered like a vagabond in the streets begging for help, offered her body, just to take care of me in our single room ghetto. I am Rebecca, hear my story. When all these were happening my mother never stopped believing in me, she worked every single day and night tirelessly just to make sure I go to school because she had to quit hers after being rejected by my father and my uncle for getting pregnant out of wedlock. We were penniless, sometimes we slept with an empty stomach but we were happy to have each other, she never stopped believing in me, she told me all the good things she loves me for, even when I failed so many times, disappointed her, depressed, worried, weak, she would look at me and say, I love you, one day you will be great. Those words cheered me up and made me do more. I finished high school and was listening to radio one evening with my mom in our ghetto when I heard about Harvard university scholarship. At first, I didn't believe it until my mom told me Rebecca let's try this, I know very well you are intelligent, smart, beautiful and a humble child, even though sometimes it seems tough, I love you, and i know you can do it. That was how I emailed the address I got from the radio and we were scheduled for an examination which I came out as the best. I was chosen with free visa and accommodation, and 6 years later I came back to mama as a doctor in one of the best hospitals abroad. I own a very beautiful mansion and a car abroad, and as I write this mama is sitting beside me with that titillating and exceptional smile in my home. In life, you can be anything, no matter what you have been through, never give up, and when you have the right people around you, it doesn't matter how many even if it's just one person who believes in you, who loves you even at your worst, who inspires you to do more, never let go of that person and when you make it, keep that person by your side. It could be anyone, but my mother was that person.
