Terrified, Alex and Daniel moved forward cautiously, discovering a crumpled piece of paper wedged under the front tire. Heart pounding, Alex unfolded the note. The shaky, scrawled handwriting sent chills down his spine: "You two survived, but I won't spare you. You ran over my child with your car, and I will seek my revenge." Daniel's face drained of color as he read the message over Alex's shoulder. The realization of what they were being accused of hit them like a freight train. The words etched themselves into their minds, each sentence like a steel blade twisting deeper into their guilt and fear. Their journey resumed, but with every step, a sense of dread gnawed at their souls. The fog seemed thicker now, the trees taller, casting ominous shadows as if the very world had turned against them. The flashing sirens faded behind them, replaced by an oppressive silence that clung to them like a second skin. Each of their breaths became heavy with tension. The guilt of the accusation weighed heavily, intertwining with the terror of the threat that now loomed over them. They couldn't be sure if it was paranoia or if someone was truly watching them from the shadows, whispering vengeance. Their eyes met, and for a moment, they saw the same fear reflected back—a fear that there would be no escape from the nightmare they had stumbled into.
