I woke up to Nìkolai’s strong arms around me. The sunlight was pouring in through the parted curtains of the balcony. I looked at the clock and saw that it was after 8 am. The funeral would start at noon. We would have to get dressed soon if we were gonna make it on time. But I just wanted to stay here where I felt safe. Where the pain wasn’t as suffocating.
