“I knew something was going on,” Sam said, “and those two guys have ‘CIA’ written all over them. Not only that, but I’d be willing to bet there’s more to this than even Honorable Williams knows. What’s the US doing in all of this? And what was that question about Russia and China about? I mean, who cares? The meeting was about rice, right?”
“You know, you’re right,” I said. “For the Liberians, the meeting was about rice, but our miner friends seemed to be more interested in who Tolbert is sidling up to for outside help. If it turns out it’s the Communists, then the US would be very concerned.”
