In the afternoon, the restaurant was full of people; music was quite loud in the background. Plus, the sound of dishes coming from the kitchen was making the environment of this small restaurant kind of chaotic one. However, at this table, the silence was being observed. For someone, from the outside, it would have seemed as if the strangers were sitting together. But who would have thought that these strangers were a broken family, endeavoring to spend some time together. This silence was broken by the waitress.
"Sir, here is your order. Enjoy your meal."
Mr. Park, Jessica, and Sam looked at the waitress as if they saw an angel. After the convocation ceremony, the Parks family went to eat outside. This outing was, though, supposed to be a celebration but the expressions on their faces were far away from giving the idea of celebration. Everyone looks uncomfortable as this was their first outing in 3 years. Before the death of Mrs. Park, they hardly used to spend time at home, especially when there was some significant occasion like one today. Jess, who was obliged to come along, seemed even worse off. She came along just because of Sam's rhetorical words as he told her that" this is what Mummy would have wanted."
The silence resurfaced as soon as the waitress went away after placing the food on the table. They were about to finish the food when Mr. Park took the opportunity to speak.
"Congratulations Jess, I hope for your better future."
Jess, with a straight face, didn't bother to reply. Neither Mr.Park expected one.
Noticing the situation, Sam continued, "What are you going to do next?"
Jess "It has nothing to do with you; focus on finishing your food."
