DESIRES
A few days later, Bella was still reeling about her discovery of Dawn’s burning house. The article had mentioned that Dawn had survived the fire, but where was she? And why did the police think the fire was suspicious? It couldn’t have been a deliberate fire, could it?
She peered through her window with an unsettled feeling, a sense that someone was watching her. Heading out the back of her house, she gently crept through her backyard and reached the side gate with its small peephole. Looking through it, she searched for something unusual but couldn’t see anything. She was being paranoid. Nobody was watching her. She was safe, and Marco would surely visit as soon as he arrived back from Perth.
