WORK VISIT
Bella walked her client out to the door. “I’ll see you next week.” She closed the door behind her and moved close to Mari, who was sniffling and wiping her nose and eyes with a tissue. Her eyes were red and bloodshot. Black circles under her eyes made her look fatigued and pale around the rest of her face. She had her head bowed down, dabbing her eyes again with the tissue. She looked up and forced a smile. “Hey, Bella. Nice client you have there.”
“She is great. Always open to trying out new things. How are you doing?”
She lay down the tissue and shifted in her chair. “I don’t know. It’s been hard breaking up with Oscar, but I’ll get through it. Eventually.” Tears slid down her cheeks. “I promised myself I wouldn’t cry.”
