CHAPTER 16: CRIME REFLECTION Marco exited the building and adjusted the collar of his shirt. He fanned his face against the heat in his cheeks, but it wasn’t terribly hot outside, just mild. Maybe it was from the heat in the building. As he and Tim stepped into the car, Marco’s mind flashed back to Bella. Her silky, shoulder-length brown hair, soulful bright green almond-shaped eyes, and those dimples on her cheeks as she attempted a smile before he gave her the bad news. Something in her eyes was sad, yet sweet and innocent. There had been a fleeting look of sadness, but she hid it well when she spoke to him. It was like she kept up a pretence for the sake of interacting with other people. He wondered what her real story was, and whether Bridget had truly wanted to make things right.
