Martins listened to the phone ring and ring and ring. With each ring she felt her concerns grow; in her mind there were only two possible reasons for Constable Turner not to answer her phone: the first reason was that the storm kept her phone from working properly, she doubted that possibility because if that were the case her own phone most likely wouldn’t be working either, and the second was that Turner had found the person responsible for the murders she had reported, and was incapable of answering her phone as a result.
