Chapter FifteenVulk’s face swam into focus, replacing the vison of Aphrodite I had been happily dreaming about. He had reverted to human form and was dressed again, so I was thankful I was not waking up to a vision of that particular monster. ‘What is it with you and gardens?’ he asked, then more concerned, ‘How’s the head?’ I gave him a smile to confirm I was at this moment the second most sarcastic person in the garden and sat up. My vision blacked out briefly and the pain in my head rose from agony to excruciating. What permanent damage had been done I had no idea. I did notice through eyes forced almost shut by the pain that I was alone on the ground. ‘I think your bandages softened the blow,’ Vulk said, inspecting the top of my head with a prodding finger. I batted his hand away.
