Chapter 34: The City of Anoth SurvivesMarika looked up as someone rapped on the door. Who did that instead of call? She stood and realized she was almost stiff from sitting so long. The air outside was getting darker. She had ignored the loud claps and occasional shaking and continued drawing her vehicle that would someday blast upward.
“Marika?” The rap came again. It was Duane.
She opened the door for Duane and he charged in with another knap on his back and carrying another. Marika could smell the odor of food coming from the held knap. He had a blanket slung over one arm.
“It's getting worse out there. They are going into a lockdown. All prepared food has been distributed. Didn't you get the message to come to the kitchen?”
