Chapter 36: Brennan ProvinceThe Teacher stood and laid his hand on Dickon's shoulder. “It is a hard Pathway, my friend.” Outside they could hear the bells clanking and someone shouting, but the sounds were muted in here. Then they had the rumble of the air and the huge cracking of lightning overhead and men screaming.
“Do you want me to go look?” Dickon asked.
“No, someone will bring us any news, bad or good. We need to return to the Stars.” He nodded at the charts.
Dickon took a deep breath and began reading and deciphering. Once he asked for paper to write on and twice he refilled his cup, but was placing the cup on the floor to keep it from splashing on any of the Star Charts.
