The Big Blow

Laura steps out of the room like a queen but before she even makes a move, she encounters her worst nightmare, she vomits at the door and she doesn’t feel so well, she supports herself with her left hand as she almost falls, living with this secret for months now, she suspect she might be pregnant but this is not going to stop her from leaving this place, she gets up and stands on her feet on e again walks confidently with her veil covering her eyes, almost half her face was covered with the black veil, the guards were so drunk and wasted to recognize her and this made things easier for her. She walks around the palace and the dress made her look so evil and that’s how she wanted to be seen at this moment. After taking the key from one guard, she walks around looking for her mum and nothing shocks her when she finds her sleeping on the cold floor, she seemed to have stayed hungry the entire night while everyone else was feasting. This was the worst kind of nightmare that made her even bitter, she did not want to waste anymore time, she helped her mum get up and they walk trying to find a way out.

"Here, lay down here mum, i will go and find us a way out" she says as she carefully places her mum on the floor, supporting her at the walls, she takes of her heels and runs to the darkness, after around thirty minutes, she comes back running and picks up her mum, a horse besides them, she helps her get up and of they go. It was her first time to ever ride a horse but she wasn't taking any chances, she jumps up and they leave. Laura rides the horse as fast as she could approaching the gate. She crashes the wooden gate and everything turns and she could not believe they had made it outside.

"Mummy, look, we made it!!!" She screams in happiness but got no response from her mum, she rides the horse the entire night and comes to a village new to her, they were probably far away from home.

The sun shines brightly in the morning and frogs can be heard from the river nearby. Laura wakes up and can barely feel her legs, her mum is lying beside her, she must have passed out , she tries to wake her up but notices her body was so cold, this wasn't real at all, tears rolled down her eyes as she tries waking her up.

"Mum don't this to me, look we. .. we made it ... We are free mum.. please wake up" she cried all along but she had left her, whatever had killed her is still not known to Laura but this hits her at the worst time of her life, she had just managed to escape from the werewolves territories and now looses her mother unexpectedly, it was such a pain that she wasn't going to heal from, she had no one at all, not even Elvin, the love of her life, everything now seemed useless to her, she weeps for a long time until she passes out.

TWO DAYS LATER

"Give her something to eat when she wakes up, i am off to buy some vegetables" Talia says and walks out. Laura suddenly wakes up.

"Take it easy lady" she hears a young boy speaking besides her, she opens her eyes and realizes she was in someones house, she could here some noises from outside, she must have been brought by a good samaritan to this place, she looks at the young boy, she looked indian.

"Give me tha" she says as she points at a jar full of water. She drinks it but spits it out almost immediately.

"What is it, you dont like the water?" The boy asks.

"Here, have some tea" he quickly pours out skme tea from the kettle, and hands her.

"Nothing to be afraid of auntie, it's still warm" he says as he smiles to her. She grabs the cup but doesn't drink from it, she places it at the table next to her as she tries to get up from the bed groaning in pain.

"Mama said you should eat something immediately" he says to her and it was at this pint her memories came back and brought sense to her, she immediately remembers about her mum.

" Where is she?" She asks bitterly.

"She went to the market to get us some vegetables" the boy replies innocently.

"Where is my mama, not yours, my mum, she was with me" she tries to explain to him as she slowly counts her words to make sure she understood her well.

He points behind the wall and Laura clearly understands, she struggles and gets up, she could not feel almost every part of her body but she needed to confirm this was not just any of her ordinary dreams, she opens the door and enteea the room and in the middle of the room lied the lifeless body of her mother, it now looks and feels more real than before, ahe truly was dead, this was the point that she realizes she had really lost a lot, not just a lot but the biggest part of her life had just been lost like that, her mum meant the whole world to her and she dies without even seeing her raise any kids of her own. She weeps again as the young boy comforts her.

"Mama says we should make a ceremony for her and burn her body before midday, it is good you are up aunty so everything will proceed in your presence, so you can say goodbye to your mama" the young boy says to her and the words are so touching than anything she had heard in a while, she notices they were in the middle of a market, the little boy helps her back to her bed.
