Sweet Maria

1040 Words
“She must be close, just an ordinary thief I assume” Zeus tells Alex as they walk away from the nosy guard. “What’s wrong with you ugly man, look away” Zeus shouts rudely at the guard who was still looking at them, he hated them so much and he totally did not fear them, his bravery was something Alex wished he could have, he was really a daring young man and he had no limits at all. The three of them walk away as they follow Ana’s lead to where the girl could have followed, they look around the entire market and finally they get exhausted. “It’s of no point Zeus, we don’t know what we are looking for, let’s just go home its already late, I don’t want any more problem with my dad” Alex says as he sits down to a bench, he looks at Zeus who was not willing to give it up, he probably was thinking how it all started and everything lead to the next one and now they are here, without the tranquin, no traces, no nothing and all the blames could be pointed to one person, Alex. “I know what you are thinking Zeus, I said I am sorry, I honestly regret doing that” Alex tells him, he could read his mind so perfectly and knew he was thinking of tearing him apart and now he chooses to apologize to him. If only he could not have tried to keep the tranquin for himself, every single of these could not be happening, they had pulled out their plan so perfectly the previous day and they were really good partners in raiding and stealing stuff even though it was the first time they worked together. Alex was strong in energy and so was Zeus but now the entire plan was made by Zeus and he only needed Alex’s help because he needed some extra hands to succeed but now he already regrets it, he walks away and now no one knows where he was headed. “So you ae just going to leave without saying anything man, atleast say something” Alex follows him and tries to make him speak. “Forget about it Alex, go home” he answers softly and by the look of things, he seemed to have given up. “You really are giving up man” he asks him. “Yeah, I have to think, there is nothing more I can do brother, take your sister and go home, its really getting cold” he says to him. “And where are you going right now” he goes on asking him, he sympathized with him so bad and wished he could go back in time. “I am going home, my little brother is probably wondering where I am” he says as he slowly walks away, his hands folded as he shivered from the cold, leaving Alex standing at the same spot staring at him. “Hey Zeus” Alex calls him out. “I am truly sorry” he said and Zeus nods his head in acceptance and this made Alex so emotional. “Are you crying?” Ana asks him as he notices his eyes changing. “Shut up, you brought all this up” he says and takes her hand, pulls her as they walked back home. Zeus now finally gets home, empty handed, he slowly opens the door, the room is dark and mosquitos are all over the room, no signs of Curtis, he walks carefully into the bedroom and sees his brother lying on the bed, sleeping heavily while holding his toy, he covers him up with the blanket and lets him sleep for a while as he thinks of a way to solve all this. He had to get some food of course, he had eaten nothing the entire day and he could not let his brother sleep before eating anything, he had never let that happen and he was not going to let it happen, he had no money or any valuables with him. He goes to the old shelf which he rarely looked, goes through a couple of things and finds nothing important, the shelf was so old and was almost breaking apart, the old scrolls that belonged to his father were all that it carried and he really wished they could be helpful but they were as good as nothing. He takes a look at them and they contained a lot of writings that he would not waste his time reading again, his memories went back when he was still a little boy, around eight years of age before the his little brother was born, he used to see his dad seated at the table writing the scrolls each and every time. He could play with his ball and it went on rolling to the bottom of his dads table and as he went to pick his ball, he remains staring at his dad. “What are you doing dad” he clearly remembers his words when he used to ask him. “It’s nothing my boy, here take your ball and go on playing son” his dad would hand him the ball and go on with his work and since then he never saw the meaning of his father’s writings when he once tried to read them. He quickly gets back to his senses, puts them back and seats back at the bed. After some time he gets on thinking at everything that happened back there, how could the tranquin have been stolen by a girl who knew nothing, that seller, he does not trust him at all, something tells him he was hiding something and this was the beginning of everything that was going to follow. Back in the market in a wooden house stands the market seller, smiling to himself and laughing out loudly. “Magnificent, all that is left is to find out what it does, just a matter of time sweetheart, you are indeed my daughter, I am proud of you Maria” he says while holding the glowing tranquin, his daughter standing next to him.
