The Exit

1013 Words
Time goes by too fast for everybody at the orphanage and now Peter also starts seeing it in another way, he never thought Esther would have stayed out for that long and it starts bothering him too. They have few options of what they can do, they were to contact the orphanage sponsers and see if they knew anything about Esther's where bouts or they just sit back and hope for her return which was so unpredictable. All the children who were already getting used to her and saw her as a role model even began loosing hope totally. It was getting worse and the place was not the same again and all the programmes they had were no longer being followed. Everyone was now living by his rules. The days go by and now a week later Peter decides to make a move and heads to the church to contact the priests about the matter though he did not like the idea but he had no other option at all. He is the only one in the orphanage that has enough courage to approach them and he was really a good person who was trusted by almost everyone around him. He leaves the orphanage in the morning and goes to see the priests and now the other thing is that the gate is left unguarded at all. Most of the children staying at this place have known no other place at all or maybe they might have stayed their for so long and no one at all is so deeply concerned about them now that Esther is not around. Alex is in one of the rooms and is standing next to the window looking at the gate and what he is thinking on his mind is so shocking and he is just about to make a very strange step in his life. His decisions might have been pushed by everything that was currently happening or maybe it was just his way of thinking, he has always been a good kid and very respectfully all the time but he decides that he was going to walk out of that gate and see the other side of life that was in the city and he might be following Esther's footsteps in a way. He heads back to the room and sits on his bed he finds no one their at that moment and it just seems to be the perfect time to make his move. He takes what was more precious to him and that was his journal and hides it in his pants, he was even shaking a lot and could barely walk. He goes back to where his colleagues were and sits on a corner all by himself folding his hands and thinking so hard what to do. The room is so noisy and some children are making up stories and laughing out loud and this makes him even invisible at all. He stands up slowly holding his pockets tight and gets out of the room without being noticed except for one naughty boy, Curtis who has been trying to observe him for long. He is also a type of kid that likes to sit alone most of the time since no one likes him at all because of his stubbornness. He stands up and follows him without being detected at all ,he hides in a corner and looks at young Alex walking so fast as he looks behind suspiciously. Curtis decides to go the other way round and runs outside behind the house and waits for him from outside the house. "Stop there Alex" he jumps infront of him from behind the door and Alex is shocked that he even falls down. Curtis starts laughing at him and hands him his hand so he can pull him from the floor but he does not take it. Alex stands up without saying anything takes his novel which had fallen on the floor at that time. "What are you up to Alex, i can read your mind don't try lying to me" Curtis tells him while standing on his way and Alex is getting even more angry and angry having said no word at all. "Go away Curtis, i am not playing any stupid games with you right now" Alex was now upset and Curtis was standing between him and his big plan. "Hey come on, let me tell you something" Curtis whispers to him but Alex hesitates thinking its just one of his normal jokes but he pulls him by his shirt and whispers to his ears again. "This place now sucks man, have you ever thought of getting out huh!" Curtis seemed to have had the same idea as Alex but just needed a partner or someone to help him out accomplish it. Alex comes to think about it and only hopes its not one of his stupid jokes this time. "Its okay Curtis, let me tell you my biggest secret now and don't freak out, i was planning to get out by my own and now that you are here i don't know what to do about it". "No way, are you serious!" Curtis becomes super excited and is more than willing to join him. "Shhhhhh, dont shout or get too excited or else you will blow up the entire plan" Alex covers his mouth trying to calm him down. "Now what you have to do is promise that you will stick by my side till we get out" Alex now wants him to make a promise before they get out. "I promise with my entire life, even after we get out we will always stick together." They shake hands and agree to do this together. "Okay, lets go on with the mission, show me the plans" Curtis is super excited. "What plans!" Alex asks him so shocked. "The escape plan of course!" "There is no escape plan, the plan is to run out of the gate and leave". Alex tries to explain to him as their voices goes up.
