Better Times That Never Last

Brian walks down the road heading to his place of work. He had never been happier since his plans worked out as he had planned and nothing would make him happier when he remembered how he left the orphanage, leaving Esther clueless and wondering what he wanted to say to her. He was so much obsessed with Esther and after all this he did not know what to do next. He had completed and confirmed that Esther is indeed staying at the orphanage and that is all. He did not manage to pass the exact information but at least he saw her. He can not get over her beauty and keeps thinking about her all the time.

He enters the shop where he works and meets his best friend John who is also his workmate and also a good friend. John wonders why he is in such a good mood which is so rare with him.

He enters the shop and changes to his work clothes. Brian works as an accountant and sales assistant in one of the biggest shop in his town but he mostly like to brag to people or rather lie to ladies that he owns the store and this lie made him to win a lot of ladies in town.

He sits at the counter and serves the buyers with a smiley face. John does not get to believe his mood and becomes so curious.

"Hey buddy, what's with all these?" John asks him almost smiling.

"All what, is someone not supposed to be happy at all, i just woke up with a good mood" he answers John and turns back to his job, he even starts singing which was so rare to him since nobody has ever heard him singing before. He starts singing some Catholic hyms and johns suddenly bursts into laughter and bothers him again.

"What are you trying to pull up Brian, so now you are saved or something!"

"Just leave me alone for Christ's sake, what's your beef with someone's happiness, i just enjoy doing what i am doing bro" he fires back at John who is almost chocking with laughter.

"Since when did you start loving what you do.." Brian looks back at him and he stops talking but goes on laughing silently while covering his mouth to prevent him from hearing that he was still laughing. Brian goes on serving his beloved customers with the happiest mood and the customers are more than satisfied with his service since they walk out from the store talking about it.

On the other side Esther comes out from the orphanage with her purse crossed out on her shoulder, she walks down the road headed for town. After walking for a short distance a red pick up truck appears and she waves at it and luckily for her it stops by, the driver is a middle aged man carrying some pile of hay to the town.

"Hello, sorry to bother you,my name is Esther and i am headed to the city, would you mind dropping me by, i have some couple of bucks with me and so everything will be alright". She humbly requests the driver who was by then listening very keenly.

"Well, this might be your lucky day since i am headed up the hills and i will happen to drop by the city to see a friend,get in" he opens the other door for her. She enters and thanks him so much for his kindness. They drive down the road as they have some conversation and getting to know each other.

"So where is your Church, never seen any Catholic church in town." The man asks since she knew Esther was going to church this is according to the way he saw her dressed in her nun clothes.

"I work at an orphanage, i am just headed to town to purchase some items and get back to the orphanage" she answers almost emediatelly. Their conversation goes on and on untill they arrive at the busy town. Esther feels like a child again when she arrives at the town. She really needed to purchase a phone for her own personal communications and did not know where to begin from.

"Sorry mister,you know of a good shop or place i can get a cellphone?"

"Their are several shops but the best one is just around here,two blocks down this road and turn left." He points for her the direction and she is so thankful. She looks in her purse for the money to pay for her fare but the man refuses to tale it saying he did not need any payment. Eather tries to insist but he is so firm with his decision. She thanks him and he drives away smiling at her.

Esther starts walking down the road again following the mans directions. She walks and passes several stores and comes to a big store which is well built and beautifully decorated and she believes it is the one. It has glass doors and everything seems so classy. She gently opens the doors and enters the shop and a lot of people to be loving the shop since it is almost crowded. She goes aroud and spots some cellphones and picks the perfect one and heads to the counter to pay for it.

"Hello sister, how may i help you" John was now sitting on the counter and she receives Esther's phone and payments, he hands him the receipt.

" Have a good day sister" Esther then levea the shop and walks around before she could take a vehicle back to the orphanage.

John goes on serving the rest of the customers and Brian comes from the restroom still singing the Catholic hymnals.

"What's the big deal with the hymnals, why is everything today about Catholics,i just served a beautiful nun now,what is all this!" John said wondering if everything is just a coincidence. Brian does not get it for a second.

"What! A nun you say?" He asked with a shocked face.
