Family Ties

Alex amazed everybody of his weird discovery and came to open everyone's eyes, nobody was aware that sister Esther was not around except for him and of course Peter who was also informed by the sister herself. There was now a lot of confusion in the orphanage and things were not running as usual. Sarah the most weird woman of them all was at the kitchen all by herself when everybody else was gathered in the children's room. It was now almost a day since Esther took off and no one had any way of contacting her and this made them have a lot of questions unanswered. Peter was sitting at his place and heard a lot of discussion going on in the room. He walks in and tells everyone not to worry at all since it was not a big deal at all and he was more than sure that Esther will show up anytime. Alex could see it from his eyes and did not know what to think at all, he was one smart kid that no one always cared about. He remembers entering Esther's room a step that no one else thought of and it did not look like she was coming back again. She was just giving herself a break and the break might not come to an end if things become so good on her side.

Back home Esther wakes up and finds everybody up already, the first face she meets is Victor's as she gets out of her room which was initially the guest room but she had to sleep there because her room was now turned to Victor's room.

"Good morning sister?" He is the first one to great Esther.

"How was your night?" "It was one of the best nights i ever had, it feels so good to be back home you know" Esther answers smiling back at him. They walk together as they talk and laugh frequently, Esther's mom was already in the kitchen making them some breakfast and overhears them talking and she has never been happier, she smiles to herself as she goes on cooking.

The kitchen door opens. "Hey mom, what are we having for breakfast" Esther enters the kitchen and joins her mother trying to figure out what she was cooking, she was indeed a good cook and Esther could not possibly beat her however hard she tried and she saw it wise to allow her mom cook.

"How is everything Esther, i remember you living this place as a nun if my mind serves me right" her mom decides to hear from her what she has been waiting to hear all along.

"I know mom, nothing has changed at all dont get it wrong mom, you never change at all" Esther answers feeling so uneasy and notices her mom still has her interogating skills and she always come to know the truth at the end.

"Am sorry Esther i did not know they changed the outfit at the church you know we don't get to hear much at the countryside" says her mom again and she really had this power of getting something out of someone's mind.

"I don't care what you think mom, am still at the church and even got a promotion to look after the children in the orphanage and they really like me a lot"

"That's good to hear my daughter,just help me with the eggs now, your dad should be up by now" she gives her the eggs and starts cooking them. They go on cooking for a while without talking and Esther also remembers something that she has not been asking and she had waited for long before asking.

"Mom, when i left it was only two of you" she was really dying to know who Victor was.

"Well , about Victor, he is one good kid, we decided to adopt him, no one else was willing to take him and now from us he found a better home, he is only six years old but so hardworking and obedient" and that's the answer of everything.

"Whoa, i really thought, well forget about mom" she thinks of saying something but stops.

"You can't be serious Esther, i am too old to give birth by now, get these to your father, he must be hungry by now you know" she hands her the eggs and some tea and Esther walks out to hand them to her father.

She walks to her dads room and sees Victor through the window oustside already cleaning the compound. She enters her dads room and places the food next to the bed, she does not know if he is awake.

"How are you my daughter" her dads crispy voice comes from behind the net.

"Am good dad, i am here with your food" she pours a cup of tea and arranges everything for him.

"How long are you staying with us daughter" her dad asks as she goes on preparing everything for him.

"I am here dad i do not know for how long but as long as you need me i will be here" this sentence makes her dad gets more hope in her daughter and he even plans in going on convincing her in getting married but he gives himself sometime since he knows she will still be around.

"Hand me that pen" there was a pen next to a table and she hands it to him. He sleeps with a small book where he writes his wishes and everything he thought of but kept it to himself.

"Your tea is ready dad" she tells him as he goes on writing.

"It's okay my love, i will be okay" she leaves the room and goes back to the kitchen. Her mom was still cooking but she joins her again.

"How bad is dads condition?" She asks since it really troubles her a lot.

"The doctors say he can not go for long, maybe three months or four" it's so sad and her mom cannot go on with the conversation and walks out of the kitchen.
