Meet Michael

"So, how did you like your mate?" My mother questions, she is clearly still wondering what on earth Harris and I were doing when we left the table at dinner." I nod begrudgingly, "He was friendly" I state in a blank voice. True the day had not been a total disaster, I kind of liked Harris, but definitely as a friend. He knows so much about me already, and I about him. We could known each other forever, we'd exchanged numbers later on in the evening, but even so, I'm surprised to find that now, as I get out my phone, it's to text Harris, not Celia. I see that Harris has text me "Hey, Cara." I respond immediately. "Hi" Then I get a text back from him a few minutes later, it's pretty much a bloomin essay: "Soooo, I was wondering... Just read, don't say no before you've finished... Okay, so I was wondering if maybe you wanted to meet up... tomorrow? It's just, wait for it, my brother, yes the one we talked about earlier, my brother wants to meet up... And I, well I don't really want to go alone, I'm pretty sure he is still upset, understandably, about me telling my parents about him, even though it was a while ago... But completely rightly! So, yeah, will you come with?! Pleeeease." My simple answer to this is "Yes" I really want to meet his brother because, I think he'll know a little about what I'm going through. I think I'll be able to trust him. The next day comes hilariously fast and my father is overjoyed that I want to go and meet up with my supposed mate, my mother, also is over the moon and practically cheers me off as I walk outside and hop into the shotgun of Harris's car that waits for me at the end of the drive. "Hey babe" Harris jokes, and I give him a friendly punch on the shoulder, he feigns that is hurt him and we both burst out laughing. When we arrive at the notatallsuspicious looking park we find that Michael is not yet present. As we are sitting on a bench a tall figure approaches and starts chatting me up. I inch closer to Harris as the hooded figure attempts to seat himself on the bench far to close for comfort. It's kind of scary and I nudge Harris who is looking worried. The figure goes to place his hand on my thigh and I give a little squeal, Harris is standing before the sound leaves my mouth. His hand is twitching dangerously and his anger radiates as if he's about to turn. The figure is somewhat taken aback, but tries again to place his hand on my thigh. "Get off her" Harris says in a booming voice, causing birds all around us to wail and flap off hurriedly. The figure begins to laugh nervously but Harris takes a step towards him and the man stands and begins to move away. "Run" Harris growls after him and the figure proceeds to scream and run like a child who put their hand on a nettle for the first time. I'm sitting there, freaked by the pervy dude but otherwise unaffected by the display, Harris is fuming for several minutes afterwards. After those minutes have past he turns to face me. "How on earth were you unaffected by that?! Even I was scared of myself, but you! You were bloomin indifferent!" I'm stunned, but it's true, the scumbag that tried to feel me up deserved to be scared a little and I would've intervened if it had got out of hand, but otherwise I just didn't care. My thoughts are distracted by a couple approaching us holding hands. Harris stands at ease and exclaims happily "Michael!" "Harris" the speaker, who I assume is Michael grins and hugs Harris. "Hello, I'd like you to meet Liam, my mate, I assume that you are Cara" He says, turning to me, "Your mate" He say solemnly, looking back at Harris. "Technically, arranged mate" Harris explains "Not actual mate, i.e. we're not in love" he finishes. "Hmmm" was the reply from Michael. Liam and Harris begin to talk, leaving Michael and I in silence. "So... Harris is a lucky guy. Even with my limited knowledge of female beauty, I can tell that your pretty." "Thanks" I reply stiffly, "But we don't want to be forced into this" I protest, quickly diving into a huge explanation of the facts, including the fact I only fancy girls. It takes a long time and when I am done explaining Michael pauses for a while before before saying...
