Sophie's POV:
I didn't believe when Daren said he was going for a meeting. I didn't believe anything that came out of his pathetic mouth.
He had been cheating on me ever since he hit on me, but I could not push him aside because of his wealth, and I also could not complain or else there would be another girl waiting, I just had to make sure they were the side chicks and I was the one living with him.
When he said he was going for a business meeting, I rolled my eyes because I didn't believe him. I tried to lure him into s*x so he could leave that other woman, but he didn't budge; he didn't even look at my sexy boobs. Then, I knew that the woman was important and I had to do something soon.
When he left, I threw up a tank top and a pair of pants, trailing him. When he seemed to turn back, I'd duck and follow another route, but I didn't dare take his eyes off him.
Finally, I saw him park at a restaurant. Wow. I allowed him to enter until I got out of my own car. I contemplated entering inside, but I knew it would be a big risk, so I waited outside.
Under this blazing sun, sweat trickled down my body, but I persisted and waited. They took a seat at the window, so I was able to see them clearly, but I couldn't hear a word they said.
I scrutinized the woman that stood in front of him. She had brown eyes and dressed simple, which Daren hated. Maybe it was a business meeting after all.
Until he dug out the ring.
I brought my hands to my mouth and gasped, looking at the glamor of the ring. He had the audacity to buy this woman a ring. What if she isn't just a common woman.
I found my phone and placed it at them, zooming it and finally taking a click. That got me her features. I ran to Google and searched for the picture.
Sandra Lupin, daughter of multi millionaire, Williams Lupin. Studied at New York University where she came out first class in Journalism.
I stopped reading. What did Sandra Lupin want from Daren? She was already established. Were they getting married? Panic coursed through me and it took me everything to stand still in my four inch heel without tripping over.
To ease myself of the fear, I walked back to my car and searched through my contact list and dialed Mother's number.
"Mother," I whimpered after the first ring.
"Darling, child," my mother's sweet voice rang through the phone. "What's the problem this time?"
"It's Daren," I said sadly.
She sighed into the phone. "It's a shame you cannot handle a man. Men are easy to control, you know that."
"This is different, Mother," I said through clenched teeth.
"What happened?"
"It appears that Daren is about to get married." It pained me as it left my mouth, but that was the truth.
She laughed. "You're just hallucinating. We know you're his soon to be fiancée."
"Not anymore. I followed him to one restaurant and I saw that he presented a ring to one woman, Sandra Lupin." I poured all my fears and feelings into my phone.
Mother paused for a minute. "Lupin, you say. Isn't that the man that owns a lot of company? That business tycoon?"
I nodded even though Mother could not see me. "The very one."
"Why do you worry? Maybe they just met for a business meeting. Did you eavesdrop into their conversation?"
"I couldn't," I replied. "I couldn't risk myself entering the restaurant.
"Calm down, Sophie. The both of us know that Daren has his eyes on you." I bit my mouth, I didn't think that was entirely true.
"Anyway," my mother continued, "you can follow them and see where this is headed. Keep me updated." And with that, Mother phone hung up.
I released a long breath, and fixed my eyes on the entrance-exit of the restaurant. Soon, Sandra Lupin stomped out and got into a limousine.
I followed my instinct and tailed her as her driver drove. She had everything she wanted, but one thing she wouldn't get is my man. I pictured her at the back of her limousine, sipping sparkling, expensive wine. I bit my tongue.
Finally, they stopped. It took me a moment to figure out where they stopped: a bridal shop. My mouth dropped in shock and my skin was pale like I'd just seen a ghost.
Sandra got out with her smoky makeup, beautiful blonde hair, and perfect shape. I detested her at that moment. I waited in the car until she walked into the shop.
I followed her while she searched for a dress. She seemed to be alone, which was weird. If she would be getting married, her supposed bestie was supposed to be tailing her, giving her insights on the gown to pick.
Surprisingly, she wasn't too enthusiastic about the dress. She walked grudgingly as she passed a lot of glittering, studded gowns. She picked one and felt the seam, she didn't like it so she dropped it.
My eyes were on her and I didn't notice one gray haired lady walking up to me. She touched me by the shoulder, startling me.
"Do you need anything, miss?"
I smiled and shook my head. "No, I'm good."
She nodded and walked off, leaving Sandra and I seven feet apart. I took a gulp and walked up to her, trying to put up a smile.
"Hello, there," I tried my very best not to fill my words with hate. "Dfo you need help?"
She shook her head, returning my fake smile. "Not really."
"Silly you," I said fondly, "you do need help. Tell me, who's the man?" My stomach knotted, hoping she wouldn't call my man.
"Um, Daren Pattinson," she said softly, a smile turning up on her face. "We'll be getting married on Friday. Isn't that so close?"
It took everything in me not to vent at her. I smiled. "Oh, that's beautiful. You're a lucky woman. Congratulations."
"Thank you. I can help you search for the perfect dress."
Together, we scouted for a "perfect" dress for the woman that was to be married to my husband. When she looked away, a frown formed in my head, but when she turned to me, I plastered a smile. I pointed at a dress.
"Look, what do you think of this?"
In front of us was a sleeveless gown with a bodice. There were sparkling beads all over it and it was close to perfection.
"I like it, you think I should give it a try?" she asked me.
Motherfucker, you should leave my husband. No, I wouldn't say that. "Yes, of course, try it."
She took the gown off the hook and walked into the changing room. I waited for the bride to come out while I was the one seated out. My eyes burned in angry tears. Just as the tears were about to drop, Sandra came out.
"How is it?" She asked me, loving it already. She turned around for me to scrutinize it and I gave her a thumbs-up.
"Perfecto."
"Thank you so much—"
"It's Vanessa." I couldn't help but lie.
"Thank you so much, Vanessa. You really helped me. Can you help me watch the dress? I think I forgot the credit card in my car."
I nodded. "Sure. I'll watch it, go get the card."
She hugged me, which disgusted me and went off to the exit of the bridal shop. That was my time. I took a razor out of my purse and tore the darts of the wedding gown, disfiguring it. She would be a disgrace on Friday and I would be there to laugh.
"Merry Matrimony," I cackled. I dropped the wedding gown and snuck out of the bridal shop.
That was the beginning, Sandra Lupin. The ending was far away.
