The Next Day
The wheels rolled wildly as the metal gurney was pushed from the red and white ambulance into the emergency room of the Palmdale Regional Medical Center. Flapping in the wind was the clinically white sheet covering the patient, occasionally revealing the patient’s bare skin and exposing him to the elements. The double glass doors rattled as they automatically opened when the gurney along with two male paramedics neared the entrance. It was unexpectedly quiet with few patients in the waiting area. A Hispanic female nurse, dressed in blue scrubs with the name of the hospital emblazoned in black, quickly approached.
