Aurora stood completely still as Keal looked at her The entire pack compound had fallen silent and everyone seemed to be waiting for the Alpha King to speak Aurora could hear her own heartbeat pounding in her chest and she wished she could disappear before anyone noticed how nervous she was Keal looked at the laundry basket in her hands before turning his attention back to the pack members Why is she working here he asked His voice was calm but there was something dangerous beneath it The Alpha of Moonridge immediately stepped forward She is part of the pack and she has always helped around the house Keal raised an eyebrow That was not my question The Alpha swallowed hard Aurora quickly stepped forward It is alright she said softly I am used to it Keal looked at her again Used to being treated like this Aurora did not answer That silence told him everything Keal turned toward the Alpha How long has she been treated this way The Alpha hesitated Keal's expression became colder I strangely empty without it Keal noticed her reaction and softened his voice just slightly Come with me Aurora looked around nervously Where Keal did not answer immediately He simply walked toward the main building and expected her to follow Aurora hesitated before taking a few steps behind him The pack members watched them in complete silence Whispers quickly spread through the compound because everyone had seen the way the Alpha King looked at Aurora Some were shocked Some were afraid And some were already jealous Aurora entered the main house behind Keal and immediately felt uncomfortable The beautiful hall was filled with expensive furniture shining floors and large windows overlooking the city She had spent years cleaning this place but she had never been allowed to sit on any of the furniture Keal noticed how carefully she kept her distance from everything Sit Aurora looked at him as if she had misunderstood Sit down he repeated She slowly sat on the edge of a chair Keal remained slightly and showed him the small silver pendant Keal stared at it The symbol was an ancient crescent surrounded by three small marks His wolf reacted immediately He had seen that symbol before but he could not remember where Aurora noticed the change in his expression Do you know it Keal did not answer at first His mind was racing That symbol belonged to a bloodline that had disappeared many years ago A bloodline connected to the first Alpha Kings Keal looked at Aurora differently now Where did your father get this necklace I told you It belonged to him Aurora replied He gave it to me before he disappeared Keal sat across from her for the first time Aurora noticed that his eyes were no longer as cold as before There was something else in them Curiosity perhaps even concern Keal leaned
