Aurora stood in the center of the room unable to understand what was happening around her The silver light continued spreading across her hands and slowly moved up her arms while the wolves around her remained on their knees Nobody spoke and even the guards who had spent years serving Keal looked at Aurora with a mixture of fear and respect Aurora looked at Keal as if he were the only person who could explain what was happening but for once even the Alpha King seemed uncertain His eyes remained fixed on the silver light surrounding her and his wolf was reacting more strongly than ever before Keal stepped toward her Aurora do not be afraid Aurora looked at him How can I not be afraid when everyone is kneeling because of me Keal stopped a few steps away from her I do not know what you are closer but the vision changed She saw her father Elias standing in the same hall holding a newborn baby in his arms Aurora realized the baby was her Behind him stood several Alpha leaders and one man whose face was covered by a black hood The hooded man spoke The child must never know who she is Elias stepped forward You will never touch my daughter The vision suddenly became darker and Aurora heard her father's voice one last time If they find you before your twenty second birthday run to the Alpha King Aurora opened her eyes suddenly Keal was kneeling beside her Aurora looked at him in underground passage Aurora looked around in surprise Where does this go Keal pressed his hand against a hidden panel The wall opened revealing a private tunnel beneath the estate This connects to the city Aurora followed him inside The doors closed behind them and the sounds of the estate became distant Keal walked ahead while Aurora followed closely behind Suddenly she felt a strange pull in her chest She stopped Keal immediately turned around What is wrong Aurora looked toward the wall I can hear something Keal walked back toward her Hear what Aurora placed her hand against the wall Someone walls trembled and dust fell from the ceiling Keal immediately grabbed Aurora's arm and pulled her behind him Stay here A loud explosion came from somewhere above them Aurora covered her ears The tunnel lights flickered and then a deep growl echoed through the darkness Keal's wolf rose to the surface His eyes changed and his entire presence became more powerful Aurora had never seen him like this Keal looked toward the darkness Someone is inside the tunnel Aurora whispered Keal nodded Get behind me A shadow moved at the end of the passage A man stepped into the faint light wearing a black coat with the Black Fang symbol across his chest He looked directly at Aurora and smiled We finally found you Keal stepped forward You will not touch her The man laughed You still do not understand Alpha King She was never yours to protect Aurora's wolf growled inside her and silver light began appearing around her hands again The man looked at the light and his smile disappeared The Queen has awakened Keal turned toward Aurora while the man slowly stepped backward Aurora looked at her glowing hands and realized that the fear she had carried for years was beginning to disappear Something stronger was taking its place The stranger raised his hand and the tunnel suddenly filled with shadows Aurora looked at Keal and for the first time she did not feel like the weak girl from Moonridge She felt powerful She felt awake And when Keal reached for her hand Aurora took it without hesitation Together they stood in the darkness waiting for the first attack while the ancient power inside Aurora continued to rise
