Time and Choices

479 Words
One Everything in your life is a reflection of the choices you have made. If you want a different result, make a different choice. °°° "Of all kinds of work, why did you choose to be a clocksmith, Dad?" I asked as I watch him work with full of determination. He hissed, making me chuckle.   "I'm a horologist. If you're going to just make fun of me, go meet the guys. I don't need you here."   "You're too sensitive these days, Dad." I laughed, "You didn't even answer my question."   "I don't have time for your bullshits, One."   I guess my father is a walking paradox, too, making it funnier. "Says the one who makes time."   He shook his head but didn't remove his eyes from his work. That's the thing about Dad. When he sets his eyes on something, he won't stop until he achieves it. "Once you realize how important time is, your entire perspective will change. Just like how I always emphasize how important it is, we have different reasons and ways how we use it. If you're asking me why I chose this kind of work, your whole life won't be enough for me to explain it for you to truly understand. The bottom line is: time and our choices are somehow linked together." I always find Dad's words vague. If he's not my father, I would think of him as a weirdo.   As I sit alone on this train and reflect on my own, something occurred to me. Choice is the most powerful tool we have. Everything boils down to choice. We all exist in a field of infinite possibilities. Every choice we make shuts an infinite number of doors and opens an infinite number of doors. At any point, we can alter the direction of our lives by a simple choice. I stare at the clock I hold in my hand.   I don't have any idea what choice Koa made for them to end up in that situation but I need to save him. I end up in this time slip because I turned back its crown. If I turn the time before Koa and Gideon went to that place, will things be altered? Without thinking further, I turned it back and found myself standing outside a Café. I peek at the glass wall and found Gideon serving coffee to a customer. I came in and sat on an empty table.   If my calculations are right, the only thing I can do is to give him the watch.   I made sure he noticed that I came here before I left the watch on the table and leave quietly. I think hard about it. The only ones who can alter what will happen are those who are part of that scene. If Gideon manages to succeed, he can prevent Koa from dying.
