Chapter 3

1022 Words
I had spent the day exploring the pack lands close to the pack house, Levi had been busy meeting the females of Grey Moon Pack, so I had been left on my own. I was never alone at my pack, not since the rogue attack, so it was weird to get used to at first. But as the day went on, I got used to the quiet and peace. I decided to get changed for the pack meeting, knowing it would be frowned upon that an Alpha female from another pack showed up in dirty sweaty clothes. So I went to my room, changing into a cute sundress with sunflowers along the bottom hem. Brushing my hair out and I was ready to go by 4:45. I stopped by Levi's room to see if he wanted to walk down together, but he wasn't there, so I went ahead alone. I reached the meeting hall on time, only to see it packed full now of members from Grey Moon and the other North American packs. Shocked at the sight in front of me, I looked for Levi, who was seated next to a very attractive blond she-wolf. "Hey I saved you a seat!" Levi yelled, waving me over when he saw me. The curious eyes of the blond she-wolf on me the whole time. "You were almost late!" "You know me," I chuckled. "Punctuality was never my strong suit." He laughed, agreeing with what I said. But the she-wolf just glared at me. Reaching out my hand to her I introduced myself, "I'm Sidney, Daughter of Alpha Leonardo and Luna Margaret Mason of the Midnight Pack." She slowly reached for my hand, eyes growing as big as saucers when recognition registered in her mind. "I'm Brianna, I'm from here." she shyly said to me. I glanced at Levi then back at Brianna before it dawned on me, "You're Mates?" Levi chuckled, nodding his head and taking her hand in his. Both visibly relaxing. "She's perfect isn't she?" I smiled, happy that my best friend found his mate. I had yet to look anyone in the eye that was an unmated male wolf, at this rate, I wouldn't find my mate. "I'm so happy for you Levi," I gave him a hug. "Does that mean you're leaving soon to head back home?" I was excited for him and sad for him to leave me all at the same time. "Nah, we have about 3 weeks before a flight back home is available," Levi answered, "So you're stuck with me for a bit longer." We both laughed, while his mate quietly sat there feeling awkward. I could scent the awkwardness radiating off of her, but before I could reassure her that me and Levi were only friends, a loud voice boomed from the stage in the front of the room. "First, I would like to welcome all of the guests from the visiting packs here, I know the change of plans for most were a bit rough, but the safety of all of our packs is always a priority. With that being said, some of the larger packs have offered to donate guard help to keep our borders even safer while we have everyone here. So thank you for that." As Jerrod spoke, I couldnt help but notice that he was tall, very tall, at least 6'5'' and I could see every muscle line sticking out from under his very tight t-shirt. He had dirty blond hair and green eyes. And as I realized I had looked at his eyes, he looked directly into mine, as the entire room began to fade away and become quiet. The thing about imprinting is in an instant you learn everything about your mates life. Every memory, every hope, every dream. Once you imprint, all that's left is marking your mate, and when you've marked your mate, you become one soul. I could see Jerrod as a toddler, see the girls he had dated in his teenage years, see the girl he lost his virginity to when he was 17. And see the same girl break his heart when she found her mate. While this was all flashing into my mind, I could feel tears sliding down my cheeks. Unsure if they were happy or sad tears, but having no power to wipe them away. When the imprinting finshied and the world began to fade back in, I could feel eyes on me, curious stares from Levi and from strangers seated near me. Trying to regulate my breathing and calm my racing heart, I looked back up at Jerrod, who stood tall on the stage with an unreadable look in his eyes, that frightened me to no end. All I could think was he was going to reject me. I was broken, Noone wanted a broken mate. I just hoped he would do it sooner rather than later, not wanting to drag it out and gain any hope from this. I heard Jerrod on stage clear his throat, signaling for everyone to pay attention to him again and forget about what just happened. "As I was saying," he cleared his throat again, trying to force his eyes not to look at me. "We will have a grand ball on Friday for all unmated wolves in attendance, this will give everyone a chance to meet without mixing in the mated wolves. I also expect everyone to be on your best behavior while your in my territory, you will he treated the same as any member of my pack if you step out of line. Everyone is dismissed." he finished curtly and all but ran out of the door behind him. " You okay?" Levi asked as we stood up to leave the meeting hall. I was still in a daze about what just happened." um..." I said, coherent thoughts not really coming to me, " I'm going to go ahead and go to bed." With that, I ran ahead of them down the hall to my room, I needed space to breath and think, to prepare myself to be rejected.
