The car was mostly silent as we drove apart from the occasional radio in from one of the other cars ahead of us or someone’s phone going off. I was seated in the back with Corin beside me. I smiled when I looked at him because he was seated with his eyes closed but not sleeping. He had been that way for a while already. We had not spoken much – or actually said anything since we left the house.
