~Ratch~
Something wasn’t right. I felt extreme pain, like when we were growing up and Ruby got hurt.
‘Ruby, are you OK?’ I tried to connect to her, but I couldn’t feel her. It felt like she was sleeping. What happened? Is she ok? I grabbed my phone and called her. It rang a few times before a women answered it.
“Hello.” a woman I don’t know answered.
“Hello, who is this? Where is Ruby?”
“Are you a vampire too?” she asked.
I tried to think, she was supposed to start on the Grimfurs pack tonight. Did something go wrong?
“Yes, Ruby is my twin sister. Is she OK?” I asked worriedly.
“She’s alive, but she was badly injured. She saved my life.” I smiled, of course she’d get into trouble helping someone. “What was she doing near my pack?”
I grimaced, “I can’t say. Will she survive?”
“Yes, though she wanted to die.” I groaned, “Since we don’t know why she was so close to our border and we found spy equipment in a tree nearby, she will be moved to our dungeon…”
“Violet, who are you talking to?” I heard a male voice say in the background.
“He says he’s her twin brother.”
I heard shuffling, “Hello?” a male voice.
“Who is this?”
“Beta Marcus. We will be keeping your sister until we find out what her business is with our pack. I will personally put a stake through her heart if I even think another vampire is close by.” He hung up the phone.
“s**t!” I threw my phone at the wall, frowning when it broke. Father was not going to be happy when he hears about this.
‘Kraven, I need you in my office. Now!’ I linked to my Count. Counts are kinda like the wolves Betas. The second in command in a vampire clan.
I didn’t have to wait long before he walked through my door. “Yes Sire Ratch?” He glanced down at my broken phone.
“I need a new phone, and I also need to leave the castle for a little while.” I stared into his light brown eyes. He was the great nephew of Serris’s mother, wanting to be turned into a vampire to avenge his great Aunt. All the vampires I turned know I do not have the same mindframe as my father and older brothers. Ruby and I are pretty much the leaders of the resistance. We felt, like our mother, that all races have good in them.
“Yes Sire, I sent a t****l to grab one from the store. Do you need me to pack anything for you?” Kraven stated.
I sighed, “I don’t know. Ruby was found in the Grimfurs pack, so I’m going to go talk with them, before Father finds out.”
“Maybe it’s time to align ourselves with the wolves. We have a bigger army of vampires than your brothers. Combined with the wolves, we would be protected. Our clan is the closest to Tamaska.”
“If only we could, Kraven, but I have to think about my mother. She’s at your cousin’s castle.”
Kraven hissed, “I can’t wait to kill that man. How are we getting your mother to safety?”
“I don’t know, one problem at a time. I need to focus on getting Ruby out of…” I stopped as the voice of my father thundered in my mind, making me visibly wince.
‘Rachimova! Has your sister been in touch with you? She missed her check-in.’
“That’s the Master, isn’t it? I’ll go get somethings ready for your trip. I’ll also call the Lycan King. I’ve helped him with rogue packs before. Maybe he can help us get Ruby.” Kraven said before he left.
“Rachimova! God dammit, answer me!’ Father yelled.
‘I’m here father, I was just taking care of some business while you were calling me.’ I said ‘Ruby had a run in with some rogues. She took care of them, of course, but missed her window to sneak in. She said she would find a place to hide for the rest of the night and be protected from the sun.’
‘Why didn’t she just tell me that herself?’
‘She was injured and is unable to open mindlinks with others. Our link is much easier for her to do when she’s been weakened, since we are twins.’
‘Fine! Tell her to get in contact with me through her phone.’
‘I will father, it feels like she’s asleep right now. I think she had to drink from a deer to aid her healing.’
‘Why didn’t she just eat one of the rogues?’
‘Father, you know she doesn’t like the taste of wolves. To her, a deer doesn’t taste the way it smells.’
‘Fine. When she wakes up, tell her to contact me! I’ll be visiting Castamira today. I would hate to have to discipline her for your transgressions.’ Father said with a maniacal laugh as he cut the connection.
Dammit! I threw my laptop at the wall and it landed in pieces right next to my broken phone.
‘Kraven.’
‘Let me guess, new laptop?’ he replied with a chuckle.
‘Yes, and start to make a plan with the Viscount and Primor. Also, get in contact with the Supreme. I’m getting my mother out of there!’
‘Yes, Sire Ratch.’
This is the beginning of the end. I thought to myself as I left the room. ‘Mom, Ruby, we will not be prisoners to father anymore!’
