What would that fake doctor even do to her?
She could kill Mia.
This was Celeste's plan. And Orion, Mia's own father, had just helped her carry it out.
"Why didn't you say something sooner!" I screamed at him. My voice tore on the way out, ragged and raw. "Are you trying to kill my daughter? Would that finally make you happy?"
My eyes burned. I didn't have time to waste on him. I ran for the door, desperate to get to Mia, and my injured leg gave out under me.
