Chapter 6

I entered the company smiling, I really had a great time yesterday with Dee and Claire, we had so much fun. We talked and watched some movies. I’m really happy that Dee and Claire got along with each other.

I entered Mr Smith’s office and he was already sitting on his desk, working . Did he really sleep here yesterday? Wow he’s really hardworking.

“Good morning sir”

“Miss Reed, good morning” he said looking at me. “Have your sit, we’ve got a lot to do today.”

I sat down hurriedly and dropped my bag on the floor.

“So you’re going to type these written files and then print them out” he said handing me about twenty papers, “And when you’re done, hand them over to Ivan’s secretary to distribute them to the various departments.”

“Alright Sir, I’ll do that right away.”

I had typed about fourteen pages already and my fingers were tired. I stretched my body, raising my arms up and yawning. When I was done, I looked up at saw Mr Smith staring at me. My cheeks were red in embarrassment that he had caught me in such a way. I smiled embarrassingly and put continued doing my work. I could still feel his eyes on me but I paid no mind to it.

When I was done with everything, it was already an hour to noon so I went ahead to photocopy the files I was meant to photocopy. After about twenty minutes, I was done with that so I played games on my laptop. I have to be careful when playing the games, because I don’t want Mr Smith to find out that I’m playing games during work hours.

It was already time for lunch so I excused my self so that I can go get something to eat

“Mr smith, it’s already lunch time and I’m going to get lunch for myself. Do you want me to get something for you?”

“Don’t worry Miss Reed I’m good” he replied

“Can I at least get you a cup of coffee?” I asked him again.

“Yeah”

“How do you take it sir?”

“Plain with two cubes of sugar.” He said not looking up from his laptop. I really pity him I don’t think he as eaten anything since yesterday. Well that’s not going to happen anymore, I’m his assistant now and I’ll make sure he eats something everyday.

“Alright sir! I’ll bring for you.”

I left the company and went to a nearby restaurant and got Chinese takeout and coke for myself. When I had collected my order, I went to the cafe I had gone to yesterday and I got coffee for Mr Smith. I didn’t feel happy that I’m eating takeouts while he’s just drinking coffee. So I got doughnuts for him, seeing as he doesn’t really like sweet things, I ordered for plain doughnuts instead. I don’t care if I get in trouble or not, I’m doing this because I care.

When I got to mr smith’s office, I met him by his desk as usual. So I carefully put what I got for him on the table and went to the couch to eat my food, without saying anything to him.

I could feel his eyes on me but I didn’t dare look up, I don’t want to see the rage in them. When I was done, I went back to my seat to continue working. There was a few minutes of silence before I heard Mr Smith’s clear his throat.

“Uh……thank you for the um… doughnuts and coffee” he said with his hand at the back of his neck.

“Oh it’s no problem sir, I’m happy to help”I said with a big smile on my face.

I’ve been typing for more than for hours now. After lunch, he gave me another set of files to type. At any moment now, my fingers might fall off.

I don’t know how he does it, I think Mr Smith is a robot because he hasn’t gotten up from his chair at all today.

It’s five’o-clock already, thank goodness. I immediately packed up my things and stood up from the chair.

“Mr Smith, it’s already past five I’ll be going home now, see you tomorrow!”
