Chapter 10-Reyan shah...

2315 Words
Noor stood there, her breath coming in shallow bursts, trying to make sense of the whirlwind of emotions that had just stormed through her. The intensity of Theodore's kiss still lingered on her lips, a constant reminder of the power he wielded over her, even when she fought him at every turn. Her heart was still racing, a chaotic rhythm that didn't match the calm exterior she struggled to maintain. The door clicked shut behind him, and the silence that followed felt deafening. Her hands, trembling, fisted at her sides as she closed her eyes, trying to steady herself. But the reality of the situation hit her hard—she was trapped. There was no running, no escaping, not from Theodore, not from the invisible chains that bound her to him. She wanted to scream. To lash out. To fight. But what was the point? The words he'd whispered to her, like poison seeping into her bloodstream, echoed in her mind. "You're mine. Completely. And you will never be free of me." A shudder ran down her spine at the thought. She hated how those words resonated with her, how they rattled the very core of her being. How they made her feel small and helpless. But no matter how much she hated them, she couldn't ignore the terrifying truth that he might be right. Noor paced the room, her mind spinning with conflicting thoughts. She wanted to find a way out. To fight him, to break free from his grip. But a small part of her—one she refused to acknowledge—was terrified that if she didn't find a way out soon, she might just lose herself completely. The sound of footsteps outside her door brought her out of her spiraling thoughts. She froze, straining her ears to catch the faintest noise. Her pulse quickened as the handle turned, the door creaking open slowly. Luca stepped inside, his eyes scanning the room before landing on her. He was a tall, imposing figure, but his presence lacked the dangerous intensity of Theodore. He was calm, almost too calm, as he studied her with a look of quiet curiosity. "You okay?" His voice was low, almost soothing. But Noor could hear the undertones of something else—something darker lurking beneath his words. She didn't respond immediately, taking a moment to compose herself. The last thing she needed was to appear weak in front of anyone, especially Luca. She couldn't show fear, not to him, not to anyone. "I'm fine," she said finally, her voice steady, though her heart still raced from the confrontation with Theodore. Luca raised an eyebrow, clearly not convinced. "The boss... he doesn't like it when things get out of hand." His gaze flicked to the door, and for a moment, Noor thought he might be referring to Theodore's sudden departure. "I'm sure he can handle himself," she said, her words laced with a venom she didn't quite feel, but she had to say it, to convince herself that she wasn't as trapped as she truly was. Luca's expression softened just a fraction, though the dark glint in his eyes remained. "You're not the first to try to escape, Noor." His tone was casual, but there was something unsettling about it. "You won't be the last either." Her chest tightened at his words. So many had tried to escape, only to fail, only to be pulled back into Theodore's web, into this dark world where escape seemed impossible. But she couldn't—no, she wouldn't—be another one of them. She couldn't let herself become like the others. She straightened her shoulders, gathering her resolve. "What do you want?" she asked, her voice firm now, defiant even in the face of the fear gnawing at her insides. Luca's smile was small, almost sympathetic. "Nothing. I just came to check on you. Theodore has his own way of doing things, and it's not always easy to understand." He paused, his eyes flickering with something unreadable. "But trust me when I say, he'll break you. And when he does, you'll be just like the rest of us." His words were meant to comfort, she knew that. But they hit her like a slap in the face. What did he mean, "just like the rest of us"? What kind of man was Theodore, to turn people into something... else? She clenched her fists at her sides, her nails digging into her palms. "I'm not like the rest of you. I'll never be." Luca's smile faltered for a moment, and then he gave a short, almost resigned laugh. "Maybe. But we'll see. He's not going to let you go that easily, Noor." The silence hung thick in the air as Luca made his way toward the door, pausing just before he stepped out. "Just remember," he said, his voice low, "He's not a man you want to test. Not anymore." With that, the door clicked shut behind him, leaving Noor alone with her thoughts. The weight of Luca's words pressed down on her, threatening to crush her resolve. But something inside her sparked—something fierce and unyielding. She wasn't going to just sit back and accept her fate, no matter how hard Theodore tried to convince her that she was his. No. She would find a way out. She had to. But as she stood there, her mind racing, a sense of dread washed over her. She couldn't help but wonder—if she did escape, if she ran, would Theodore follow her? Would he track her down, as he promised? Would he make her regret trying to escape him? Noor's thoughts were a storm of their own, her heart warring with her mind. She couldn't let herself be broken. Not now. Not ever. But the question remained—how long could she keep fighting before she was consumed by the darkness that Theodore had wrapped around her? ------------------------------------------------------------------- Noor barely had time to digest Luca's cryptic warning when the sound of footsteps reached her ears once again. This time, the steps were heavier, more purposeful. She turned toward the door, her breath catching in her throat as it creaked open. A figure stood in the doorway, silhouetted against the dim light of the hallway. Noor's heart skipped a beat as she recognized the man who entered—the last person she expected to see here, especially after everything that had happened. It was Reyan. Her best friend. The one person she had trusted with every secret, every fear, every whisper of her heart. The one who had always been by her side, through thick and thin. He looked different now, though—more hardened, more serious. The once light-hearted, carefree expression he had always worn was gone, replaced by a look that sent a shiver down her spine. Reyan's eyes locked onto hers instantly, and for a long moment, neither of them spoke. The silence between them was thick, as though the air itself was holding its breath. Noor's mind raced. What was he doing here? Had he come to rescue her? Or was he here because Theodore had somehow involved him in all of this? "Reyan," Noor whispered, her voice trembling with a mixture of relief and disbelief. "What are you—" "Shh." Reyan stepped forward quickly, placing a finger to his lips, signaling for her to keep quiet. His eyes flickered toward the door, as though checking for anyone who might be listening. "I'm here to get you out, Noor." Her heart surged at his words, hope and fear warring inside her. She wanted to believe him, to trust that he would somehow manage to free her from the chains Theodore had placed around her, but a part of her—the part that had learned to trust no one—was hesitant. Could she truly trust Reyan now, after everything that had happened? "But—" Noor started, but Reyan quickly interrupted. "Listen to me," he said, his voice low but urgent. "I don't have much time. You have to trust me, Noor. I'm here because I—" He paused, his voice faltering for just a moment before he continued, "I'm working with Theodore." Noor's blood ran cold at his words. Working with Theodore? She could barely comprehend it, let alone accept it. The man who had been her best friend, her confidant, was now involved in whatever dark dealings Theodore was orchestrating. And worse—he was the one sent to find her? Her gaze flickered over Reyan, trying to make sense of the situation. His usually warm and familiar eyes were cold, guarded, and they held an intensity she had never seen before. The carefree college student she had known seemed like a distant memory now. "I know you don't want to hear this," Reyan said, his voice breaking through her spiraling thoughts, "but Theodore... he has his reasons. He wants you, Noor. He won't let you go, and I'm not sure it's safe for you if you try to run." He took a step closer, his eyes pleading with her to understand. "I'm doing this for you—because I want you safe." Noor recoiled, her pulse racing in panic. She couldn't understand. How could he possibly be on Theodore's side after everything she had told him, after all they had shared? "You're... you're working for him? After everything he's done?" She almost spat the words, her voice rising with anger and confusion. Reyan's jaw clenched, but he didn't look away. "I don't have a choice, Noor. Neither do you. You're in too deep now. You can't just walk away from Theodore. If you try to escape, there will be consequences. And I... I can't let you get hurt." Her mind spun in a whirlwind of disbelief and betrayal. The man she had trusted with everything, the one person she thought would always protect her, was now a part of the very nightmare that held her captive. Her heart cracked in two at the thought, but she refused to show it. She couldn't—she wouldn't—let him see how much his words were affecting her. "What do you want from me, Reyan?" she asked, her voice a whisper of broken trust. "What do you want me to do?" Reyan took a deep breath, his gaze softening just slightly. "I want you to listen. I know this isn't easy, but I'm trying to help you. Theodore isn't like anyone you've ever met before. If you try to fight him, it won't end well. You need to stay with him, at least for now. I'm not asking you to love him, but I'm asking you to stay alive." Noor felt the weight of his words, the desperation in his tone. She wanted to scream, to push him away, but something inside her stilled her hand. Reyan wasn't the enemy here—he was caught in the same web as she was. The difference was, he had already made his choice. She looked at him, trying to see the boy who had been her closest friend, the one who had protected her from the world's cruelties. But now, that boy was gone, replaced by a man who was a part of the very darkness that surrounded her. "I don't know if I can trust you anymore," she said quietly, her voice trembling despite her efforts to remain strong. Reyan's face fell, and he took a step back, guilt flashing in his eyes. "I never wanted to be in this position, Noor. But I'll do whatever I can to protect you. If you trust me, I'll help you. But if you don't... if you try to run... I can't promise you won't get hurt." The finality of his words hit her like a punch to the gut. She was stuck, trapped between two men now—one who had kidn*pped her and the other who had somehow aligned himself with the monster who owned her. But what Noor didn't know was that Reyan wasn't just working with Theodore for his own benefit. He had been secretly in love with her for years, a love he had never confessed, a love he had kept buried deep within. The reason he had come now—apart from trying to help her escape—was that, after everything, he couldn't stand to see her suffer any longer. He knew she would never be free from Theodore's grasp, but he was willing to give everything he had to protect her. And when they escaped, he promised himself that he would finally tell her how he felt. But for now, all he could do was watch, helpless and torn. "I have to go," Reyan said, his voice distant now, almost as if he had already resigned himself to the reality of the situation. "But remember, Noor, I'm doing this for you. Don't make this harder than it has to be." As Reyan turned to leave, Noor felt the weight of his departure settle over her. She was more lost than ever, caught between the life she thought she could have and the nightmare she was trapped in. But one thing was clear—if she was going to survive this, she would have to navigate the storm with no one but herself to rely on. But deep inside, she feared she was already too far gone. The door closed behind Reyan, leaving Noor standing there alone, with nothing but the sound of her own breath and the chaos swirling in her heart.
