Alex
After eating the most epic cheeseburger in all the land, she was delightfully full but teetering once again on the edge of panic. Her head held down, staring at the table like it might give her the answers she needed, she felt Diablos' eyes boring into her skull.
"So, now that you're fed, where were we?"
"I think we were at the spot where you barged into my personal life." I muttered.
He chuckled darkly. I looked up in surprise. Jesus, this man was gorgeous. Older than me, I'd say by some years but still handsome as he*l. Intoxicating brown eyes, short, maintained beard with scattered grey. He had a strong jawline and a slightly crooked nose from years of battles would be my guess. I couldn't take my eyes away from him.
"Listen doll, whatever you're running from made you my business the moment you arrived. Whoever the bas*tard is my guess is he's not looking to let you go, probably out hunting as we speak."
My throat went dry. I tried to cough but it came out as a choke. He was right.
"We can get you set up with a place to stay, and you can get back on your feet. Running for the rest of your fu*king life will make for a miserable existence. Then we can look for that son of a bi*ch and deal with him."
I gasped "Like kill him?!"
Diablo just chuckled. "Welcome to Savage Souls world doll." He announced with a wink.
Sh*t.
Diablo
We walked to the front of the diner to the register. She pulled out her wallet and I snatched her hand.
"You are absolutely not paying for lunch, don't even think about it."
Amused, Margie approached the counter with a smile.
"Oh Diablo, stop scaring the poor girl. Lunch is on me, the both of you. She turned to Alex. "I'm sorry if I inserted myself into your business, honey. It's my mamma bear instinct. Whoever did this to you will not hurt you ever again as long as you are here in town."
Alex looked apprehensive. He*l I don't think I'd be very trusting in her shoes either.
"Tell ya what. I have an apartment upstairs empty. Fully furnished and all. You can move in and stay as long as you would like. And if you want to pay, you can work a few nights a week here at the diner. I'm getting old and my feet aren't what they used to be."
FU*K YES.
Wait what? Why the hell did I care if she stayed? I just wanted her to be safe until she could get a plan together for herself. Who am I kidding? Something about this chick makes my insides feel something other than unrelenting fu*king rage. I wanted to hold her, make her smile, obviously fu*k her brains out, but that would need to wait for some healing first. She was gorgeous. Even covered in bruises. And there was still fire in those beautiful hazel eyes. I wanted to rip off those baggy clothes and see her curves. She was not like any of the club wh*res. She was natural. No fake t*ts, a*s, hair.
Watching her eat was refreshing.
She had no shame in putting down that burger. The club girls barely ate. Sticking to their diet of booze and di*k. They were stick thin all of them. Not this girl. She had curves I could tell. Although her chest was smaller than I was used to, it was natural. And that was hot as fu*k. I stopped eye fu*king her long enough to hear her agree to stay for a while and that made me, for whatever reason, a happy man. A word kept popping into my brain no matter how much I tried to ignore it.
MINE.
