KHIONE CYRA
For the past few days, Jase has been calling me nonstop. He was also constantly messaging me about why I broke things off and telling me how much he wanted to go home to the Philippines to see me and work things out.
I ignored all his calls and messages. At one point, he messaged Essia and I had to know what happened. I called Essia one night and she rambled.
"I told him to stay away from you and not to bother you again."
"And? What did he tell you?" I was sipping on my coffee at 1:00 a.m. in my room while reading The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie.
"The jerk asked me if it's because you're seeing someone else and I go and say 'So what if she was, hmm? You prancing around with that little b***h in your arm is not alright.'"
I laughed and placed a metallic bookmark between the pages of my book. I closed it, placed it on my bedside table and asked, "What did he say after that?"
"He said it was just work and kept saying stupid s**t that I didn't even bother listening to. I told him 'Yeah, well, KC just told you why she didn't want you anymore so move on and have a good life. Bye!'"
"If I talked to him, the conversation will just get longer and he'll go to his pity partying mode and make me feel bad." I said, sighing softly.
"Better I give him a taste of his own medicine or you'll end up regretting everything you just said and get back with him."
I hummed in response and decided to change the topic. We talked about other things while I finished my coffee. It took us until 3:00 a.m. to finish and I had to cut it or it won't end. Ever.
I bid Essia goodnight and looked at Reika who was already fast asleep on beside me.
It's better off this way. At least, I won't hurt anymore.

The next morning, I was off with my cousin to look for a part-time job. I wanted to do some work related to my course, but I find it hard to enjoy it since I didn't have a license.
It took us a few hours and I got an interview at a coffee shop in the city. I got the job immediately and I can start work the next day. It's a little far from home, but my dad can just drive me there.
I sighed softly as I nibbled on my lunch. A salad with mushrooms, tomatoes, and salmon was a great light lunch for me. My cousin asked me what was wrong and I told her everything about my ex boyfriend.
"I get it and as you should. I could tell you that you should've left him before, but of course, it's hard to let someone go especially if you loved them too much."
Her words washed over me like a cold bucket of water and realization hits me. I agreed with her and we continued our lunch while I listened to her stories.
We got home a few hours later and I felt sleepiness overcome me. I headed straight to my room and saw Reika reading her book, Twisted Games by Ana Huang.
"How'd it go?" She asked, not looking up at her book.
"Good. I got a job at the coffee shop downtown. I start tomorrow." I said, peeling off the layers of clothes I'm wearing.
I love winter season, but I just hate how there are too many clothes to wear.
"That's cool. I'm sure dad will be willing to drive you there." She flipped through a page.
I hummed in response and just plopped down beside her. I groaned, "It's too cold outside. I don't want to go out anymore, but now I have to work and that's worse!"
"You'll live. Don't worry. Just think about it. You'll be having your own money soon and then you can get mom and I out of this house." Reika said. I huffed and nodded.
"You're right. I should probably earn a lot so that we can afford to live in our own house without restrictions and limits."
I fell asleep after that and didn't wake up until dinner time.

The next day, I got to work early. My cousin insisted that she take me to work so she could tell me about what it's like working in a coffee shop. I listened attentively and mentally took notes.
Since she also has work, she wanted to drop me off first and when we got to the coffee shop, I could feel my heart beating so loudly against my chest.
"Good luck on your first day!" She cheered me on when I got out of her car. I smiled and waved at her as she drove off. I swallowed thickly and met my manager when I walked inside the shop.
"Wow! You're here early." She chimed, clearly in a good mood.
She looks like a nice person.
"I didn't want to be late on my first day so..." I said sheepishly.
She beamed at me, "Well then this is perfect. I can teach you the basics and then train you along the way."
Trisha, my manager, is half Bristish and half American. She was born in Europe, but raised here in the US. She had porcelain white skin, bright blue eyes, and blonde hair. She's just a few years older than I am and told me that she actually owns the shop.
She did teach me how things worked. She took me to the storage room, the backroom, the kitchen, and the lounge area for staffs. She also taught me how to make basic latte and cappuccino.
"So that's about everything. I hope you wouldn't be too overwhelmed about it." She said as she handed my uniform.
"I think I can handle it." I smiled and decided to change into my uniform. I looked at the mirror attached to my locker door and breathed a sigh.
You can do this. You can do this!
I cleaned around the shop for a little bit and all the other staffs began pouring in. They all greeted me warmly and welcomed me as the newcomer.
After a few minutes, customers are filling the shop and I was tasked to serve their orders. Just as I finished placing down the coffee on a customer's table, someone bumped into me and I fell on my side. I yelped.
"Oh! s**t! I'm so sorry, miss. Here. Let me help you up." It was a man's voice.
"I'm fine. Don't worry about it." I said, accepting his hand and he pulled me up to my feet. I looked up at the man and that's when I saw the most beautiful and enchanting blackish gray eyes.
"Are you sure you're alright?" He asked, placing his hands on my shoulders.
I cleared my throat and looked away, "Yes. I'm... I'm fine."
"Hey, Raidon! Stop harassing the newbie! Come and get your damn order!" I heard Sandra call out.
"Oh. You're new here? Welcome! I'm a regular here so you better remember my name. It's Raidon Colden." He said with a smile so bright that it blinded me.
"I'm Khione Cyra, but you can call me KC for short." I said and smiled a little.
"Raidon!"
"Sorry. Got to grab my order. I'll see you again, Khi!" He said and rushed to get his coffee.
I stood there, holding the tray to my chest and watched him interact with Sandra, our expert barista, animatedly. He was laughing and the corner of his eyes wrinkle a little when he does and his hair bounces under the dim yellow lights of the coffee shop.
I snapped out of dreamland and realized something.
Wait a minute. Khi? Did he just call me... Khi? No one ever calls me that except for Essia.
