WHEN I HAD RETURNED TO MY PLACE IN THE BACK with Kuba that morning, a hundred questions still haunted my mind.
Everything had changed last night—with both Otylia and him. Though I had been scared to trust Kuba with the truth of my powers, I was glad I didn’t have to lie to him anymore. His agitation had been obvious all morning, especially after Kajetan had announced we weren’t getting lunch, but Xobas’s rebuke of Narcyz had brought a smile to both of our faces.
