CHAPTER THREE
AMELIA’S POV
The guards stood before me, holding their weapons tightly. I could smell their joy as they grabbed me by the arm, leading me to the palace.
"I could feel a surge of energy as I woke up from my sleep. That lady must be my mate," John's voice resonated in the room. The guards had been instructed to wait for further instructions before I was brought in so I had time to acknowledge the situation.
"That's interesting, sir. The girl in question, have you ever met her?" the voice of Carter Wilson cut my fantasy short. Knowing him to be the devious and arrogant man who had eyes for the throne, I knew I was in some sort of mess.
"I was drunk last night, but thanks to the CCTV footage installed in the passageway, I was able to get a glimpse of her beautiful face," John let out. I could sense the joy coming from his tone.
"I doubt anyone is more beautiful than my daughter, but let's see what we have at hand," Carter cut him short. He had always wanted his daughter Laura to be John's mate so he could get closer to the throne, but that plan has failed once already.
Laura had rejected John when her father betrayed them together. She didn't want to leave her lover Marcus, who in turn betrayed her by sleeping with her best friend. Furious about Marcus betrayal, she had given up on love and followed the path her father had set for her, the Alpha's mate.
"Carter, your daughter is indeed beautiful, but when compared to the girl I met last night, she becomes a game of the past," John said. With that, Carter groaned underneath his breath. His plan to get the throne had been obstructed, and his daughter was yet without a mate.
"Brother, why don't we see this beauty you keep talking about? I mean, for you to speak about a lady like this, she must have won your heart." Another voice crossed my ear. From the words, I could tell it was Judy's.
"You can call them in now," John's voice resonated once more, and the guards released me from their grasp. They opened the door, revealing the royal chambers.
After several urges, I walked into the room. The interiors of the royal chamber were far better than those of the main hall, which was several blocks away.
I was still observing the surroundings when I began to hear growls. They were becoming louder and louder by the second. I wanted to run, but the guards were right behind me.
"What's with the growl's?" John inquired, pissed by the elder council's behavior.
"Can't you tell who this girl is from her scent?" Carter growled louder, staring at me with rage.
"I can; she's the girl who I had a rump with last night," John exclaimed.
"She's a siren." Laura's voice rose from the depths of the chamber. She walked forward, sniffing around to verify if she was correct about her theory.
"That must be why you woke up stronger than usual. The blood mix must have caused it; the siren blood purifies that of the werewolf, making werewolves stronger than their usual selves," Carter explained.
"A siren... that's impossible," John groaned. He didn't want to believe it, as he had huge hatred for sirens.
His parents had been murdered by sirens when he was younger, leaving him and his twin brother to fend off on their own. He had once vowed before everyone in the pack to eliminate every single siren he came across, and he did exactly that these previous years.
Judy didn't let out a single word after he set his eyes on me. He couldn't believe that I was a siren; it all felt like a nightmare, and they wished to be free from it.
"If she's a siren, then that means she's to be executed right here and right now," Laura's word echoed in the chambers, bringing forth tension in the council.
I wanted to speak, but I didn't want to die faster than anticipated. "Amelia right," John's voice brought me back to reality. "Yes, I'm Amelia," I said softly.
They all stared at me with uneasiness in their eyes. They were threatened by my presence as an inferior species and would be quick to eliminate me if given the slightest chance.
"Is it true that you're a siren?" his voice thick and domineering.
"Yes, I am," I responded honestly. It was better to die with no regret than to lie to save my silly a*s.
"Tell me these accusations are just fantasies made up." His voice cracked as he spoke.
"They are not your Majesty. I am indeed a Sirenn," I stuttered.
"What was a siren doing in a mating ball? Who sent you to check up on me? What's your master plan?" he grabbed my neck immediately. His eyes, which once glimmered with joy and hope, were now filled with rage.
I didn't want death, but I wasn't strong enough to defend myself if I even wanted to. "I just decided to attend; there's nothing more to it, your Majesty," I said, gasping for air. I could feel a surge of energy growing between us—the mate bond, as they specified. He felt it too but was resisting with the help of his anger.
"You know the consequence of your action." He hit me against the wall. My back arched in pain as I collided with the wall.
He grabbed a sword from the collection beside me and, with a pull, uncovered the case. Pulling the blade out and sticking it close to my neck.
"John, it's okay," Judy said, moving towards us.
"Judy, she is a siren. The reason we were without parents throughout our childhood," John reminded.
"What would be the essence of killing her? She's innocent of that crime, so let her go." Judy patted John on the shoulder, decreasing his rage.
Joy filled me as I realized I wasn't going to die. I was still holding my neck, awaiting his decree to let me roam free and off the limits of the chambers, when reality struck me.
"I hereby banish you, Amelia, from this city, never to set foot on this soil ever again."
