Chapter Seven

1617 Words
Nick I’ll sort this asshole out. I linked to Hunter. Don’t be lenient, Alpha. I ended the connection with Hunter, fully aware that I would not be lenient with this asshole. I just stared at the asshole till Hunter and Elodie had disappeared through the trees. Wolves like him make me sick. No wolf should try to mate with another wolf without the consent of both wolves. I move around Kai in a slow circle, never breaking eye contact, making him feel extremely uneasy, like he’s, my target. “You know if you carried on, your actions would have been punishable by death?” I snarled at him. Kai’s eyes widened, and he shook his head. “I would not go that far.” “So, how far were you willing to go if we didn’t intervene?” I snapped at him. The tone of my voice causes him to flinch. Once he began following her, he knew he would do something unthinkable to a girl who couldn’t protect herself. I delivered a powerful blow to his face, sending him flying backwards. Just as I was about to strike him again, a warrior materialised beside me. “Alpha, you link me for assistance?” While Kai picked himself up and cleaned his bloody nose, I nodded in agreement. You definitely broke his nose. Levi snickered. I couldn’t revel in the joy of causing harm to him. I wanted him out of my sight. “Lucas, take this worthless piece of s**t to the confinement area.” The confinement area was a posh name for our dungeon where we would take rogues, hunters or any of our pack members that didn’t apply to our law. I looked at him in disgust as Lucas grabbed hold of his arm, dragging him out of the park. “I’ll deal with you tomorrow,” I shouted to him. I quickly mind-linked Hunter to make sure Elodie got home safe. Hunter bombarded me with loads of questions about the girl. I sighed; I couldn’t deal with this right now. For some reason, my mind was clouded, which always happened around Elodie. I needed to let off some steam to think properly. I needed a run. In a swift motion, I morphed into Levi, completely unconcerned about my torn clothes or the lack of replacement attire. I sprinted for what seemed like an endless amount of time until I finally reached the small cottage where Elodie and her mother stayed. What are we doing here? I asked Levi. I don’t know, maybe, subconsciously, we both wanted to make sure she was okay. Levi said. I could hear the soft cries, and it broke my heart to hear them. Why do I feel like this? Why does her scent attract me? We settled down close to the cottage until we heard gentle snores, and then we quickly returned home. I know that when my father finds Kai with a broken nose, I’ll be in for a lecture tomorrow. But it was worth it. ******** Bang! My father’s fist slams down on the desk. He gave me a fierce look, clearly displeased with my actions, which ultimately resulted in me punching the son of the Gamma last night. The gamma played a crucial role in safeguarding Luna and shared an irreplaceable connection with her. The bond they shared was reminiscent of a mate bond, but it was distinctively their own. Sadly, my mother couldn’t establish a gamma bond since she wasn’t technically born a Luna. Our gamma treated her with equality, unaffected by the absence of the bond. That Kai was technically my future gamma made me feel nauseated. Based on what I saw last night, I absolutely don’t want him anywhere near my mate. The thought of my Luna being potentially unsafe would make me hesitant to go out for social or work events. “I will not tolerate this behaviour from our future alpha, Nick! It’s important that any issues are brought up and addressed between me and our beta. Not to take matters into your own hands.” My father snapped at me. My mother is sitting on the right side of my father, while the gamma and beta are on the left. I was met with disappointment from all three of them. “Father, I will not tolerate any pack members forcing themselves on a she-wolf! Outcast or not.” That is the reason we are here this morning, to uncover the truth about what occurred last night. Kai and Elodie won’t be long.” “Mother, I believe it’s unfair for Elodie and him to be in the same room.” My mother smiled. There is no need to worry about Elodie; she will be fine and not in any danger. A gentle knock resonated throughout the room, and my father granted them permission to enter. As Elodie walked in, she cast her eyes downward and seemed to tremble slightly. Kai followed closely behind her and when he closed the door, he wrapped his arm around Elodie’s shoulder. With a glare, I rose from my seat, only to be halted by my mother’s voice. “Let’s see what they have to say first, Nicholas.” I positioned my arms across my chest and maintained unwavering eye contact with Kai, who avoided looking directly at me. “Please go ahead, Elodie, and share with us what happened last night.” My father asked her softly. There was something unsettling about the way Kai squeezed her shoulder, causing her to flinch, which made me feel uneasy. “Uh, it was a misunderstanding, and I apologise if it seemed otherwise. Kai and I have been dating, but last night, he got drunk and crossed some boundaries. Our-” I cut her off before she could complete her sentence. “This is a joke, isn’t it?” I glanced around the room. There was no doubt about what occurred last night; I witnessed it firsthand. Elodie continued as she stared down at the floor. “Our game got out of control, and I apologise for causing you worry, Nicholas.” “Look at me.” I whispered softly. Her eyes lifted slowly, meeting mine, and I could see tears welling up, shimmering and about to be shed. Out of nowhere, the asshole decides to speak right before planting a kiss on the top of her head. “Last night, I attempted to explain that it was just a misunderstanding, and we were only fooling around.” He gazes at me, a faint smirk playing on his lips, and I couldn’t resist grabbing onto his T-shirt. “Some reason I don’t believe you.” “Nicholas, let him go.” The person who told me to let him go has left me stunned, and I cast a wide-eyed gaze at Elodie. Tears streamed down her face as she maintained eye contact with me. Was her intention to elicit sympathy from me by doing this? I had been feeling sorry for her all along, only to realise it was in vain. “Elodie, I appreciate your honesty. Nicholas, I believe you owe Kai an apology.” My mother said. “I apologise for the black eyes, but I stand by my decision to intervene. Even if what Elodie says is true, the words ‘no’ came out of her mouth and that should've been enough for you to stop. Drunk or not.” Kai nods and forces a smile that doesn’t reach his eyes. “Kai and Elodie, thank you. You may leave.” My father dismisses them from the room and Gamma Thomas follows them with a displeased expression. I lean back in my seat, observing my parents and Beta Oliver, who meet my stare with a piercing glare. “Nicholas, your apology could have been better. You shouldn’t treat your future gamma that way or accuse him of a crime he didn’t commit.” While my father snapped at me, my mother responded with a smile and then spoke, “You are a kind-hearted individual, my dear, and unfortunately, some people may exploit that. Because of being cast out, Elodie’s mother holds bitterness and might try to use her daughter for revenge against you and your pack.” “Gwen, enough, my love,” my father sternly said. I recently discovered that there were wolves in our pack whom we had cast aside, but no one has tried to explain why we made that choice instead of banishing them entirely and making them rogues. What would be their motive for Elodie befriending me, and why would they seek revenge on me? “What would they gain by going for me?” My father looked at me. “They would try to manipulate you into opposing me and stopping me from banishing them to be rogues before you assume leadership as the future alpha.” “Why are Elodie and her mother cast aside from the pack?” I witnessed both engaged in a conversation through Mind link and expected them to have the decency to acknowledge me. “Lilith became a threat to our pack because of her poor choices, but we had to consider her pregnancy and the duty we had to the unborn pup. However, we clarified that once Elodie turned 18, we would banish both. We couldn’t keep Elodie here once we banish her mother because she might seek revenge.” My father explained before my mother spoke again. “Which looks like she is already trying to do.” Did I fall in her trap? No and i'll make sure she will pay for making me look like a fool.
