Chapter 8: The Feeling He Couldn't Name

1088 Words
Author's POV It had been almost a month since the boys' last concert. As usual, after every major concert, the members were given a short break to rest, recharge, and spend some time away from their hectic schedules. For everyone, it was supposed to be a peaceful break. And for Amungi, it was exactly that. She had been enjoying her time away from work, catching up on sleep, exploring Seoul, and simply enjoying having a little time to herself. She hadn't spoken much with the members during the break. Not because anything was wrong. She was simply enjoying her own space. But someone wasn't taking the distance quite as well. A certain someone was beginning to miss her. Very badly. BTS House "Jiminahhh!" Jimin looked up from the sofa. "Ahh! What happened, Tae? Why are you screaming?" Taehyung walked into the room and stared at him. "Why are you so dull and lazy ever since this break started?" Jimin frowned. "What do you mean?" Taehyung crossed his arms. "Jiminah, it's so obvious." He grinned. "It looks like you miss something." He paused dramatically. "Or, more certainly... someone." Jimin immediately shook his head. "No! No, I don't miss anyone." He looked away. "Why would I miss anyone? I'm just tired, okay?" Taehyung raised an eyebrow. "I also miss ARMY." "Hmm." Taehyung clearly wasn't convinced. "Okay." He turned around and walked away. Jimin watched him leave. He knew exactly what Taehyung was thinking. And he wasn't about to admit it. Jimin's POV I picked up my phone. Maybe I should post something. I opened i********: and stared at the screen for a while. I didn't even know what I wanted to post. I just felt like sharing something. So I did. I posted it without thinking too much. Then I placed my phone down. Fifteen minutes later... Ring... Ring... I looked at the unfamiliar number. "Hello?" There was a brief pause. Then I heard a familiar voice. "Jimin?" My eyes widened. "Amungi?" "Yeah. It's me." I sat up straighter. "Why did you call?" She laughed softly. "I wanted to talk to you." "What?" I couldn't hide my surprise. "Really?" "Yeah." She continued. "I saw your post on Instagram." "Oh." "Are you okay?" "I'm fine." "Do you need anything?" I smiled despite myself. Yeah. I need you. But I didn't say it. "No. I just felt like posting it, so I did." I tried to sound casual. "There's not really any meaning behind it." "Oh, okay." There was another short pause. "Then... bye." "Bye, Amungi." The call ended. I stared at my phone. Why did a simple phone call make my entire day better? I didn't know. And somehow, that bothered me more than it should have. A Few Weeks Later The break eventually came to an end. BTS had been nominated for the Best Group Award for the seventh time, and the entire team was preparing for another major award ceremony. The styling room was buzzing with activity. Staff were rushing around. Outfits were being finalized. The members were getting ready. And, as always, Amungi was in the middle of everything. She moved from one member to another, carefully working on each look. "Done." She stepped away from the final member. Everyone checked themselves in the mirrors. Then came Jimin's turn. He quietly took his seat. Amungi picked up her brushes. "Okay. Let's start." Jimin smiled. "Okay." Thirty minutes later, she finished. As usual, she had added her own subtle touch to his look. The room went quiet for a moment. Jungkook stared at him. "Wow." Taehyung nodded. "Again?" Jin laughed. "Amungi has done it again." Amungi simply cleaned her brushes. She didn't even look at Jimin. "Are you guys ready?" Everyone nodded. Jimin looked at his reflection. Then at Amungi. She was already sitting on the sofa, scrolling through her phone as though nothing unusual had happened. He smiled quietly. She really does this every time. The Award Ceremony The ceremony went perfectly. And, as everyone had hoped... BTS won. The celebration began almost immediately. For the first time, the group decided to hold their after-party at a private club reserved exclusively for their staff and members. Everyone was excited. Amungi, however, had already packed her things. Her work was finished. She was ready to leave. She had barely reached the door when Jungkook called out. "Where are you going, Amungi?" She turned around. "Home. Where else?" Jungkook looked at her as if she'd said something ridiculous. "Aren't you coming to the after-party?" "No." She shook her head. "Why would I?" Namjoon immediately joined in. "Am! You have to come!" Jin nodded. "Exactly!" The others joined them. "Please, Am!" "Come with us!" "Just for a while!" Amungi sighed. She looked around at all of them. "Fine." Everyone cheered. "Yay!" "But!" She raised a finger. "I need to go home and change first." "Okay!" "And don't expect me to stay all night." "Fine!" "And don't ditch me when you all get busy." Jungkook laughed. "We won't." Amungi smiled. "Okay. I'll see you guys later." Four Hours Later The party had already started. Amungi was almost an hour late. The members were talking among themselves when the doors opened. Everyone turned. And the conversation stopped. Amungi stepped inside. She had traded her usual casual look for something much more polished and elegant. The girl who normally walked around HYBE in comfortable clothes and simple makeup looked completely different tonight. Still Amungi. Just... transformed. Taehyung's eyes widened. "Am!" Jungkook laughed. "You look amazing!" Amungi gave a slightly embarrassed smile. "Thanks." Namjoon smiled. "You look beautiful, Am." "Thank you, hyung." Jin placed a hand dramatically over his heart. "Worldwide beauty has arrived!" Amungi laughed. "Thank you, Jin hyung." Yoongi nodded appreciatively. "Black suits you." Amungi smiled. "Thanks, hyung." Everyone continued talking. Everyone except Jimin. He hadn't said a word. He was simply staring at her, completely caught off guard by the change. Amungi noticed. She walked over to him. She leaned slightly closer and quietly asked, "Do I look okay?" Jimin's brain immediately stopped cooperating. "I..." He blinked. "You..." He looked away for a second before looking back. "You look..." He struggled to find the words. "...really nice." Amungi smiled. "Thank you." Then she walked away. Jimin remained frozen for a moment. Taehyung, watching from across the room, slowly smiled. He had seen that reaction before. And this time, he was absolutely certain. Something was happening. Meanwhile, somewhere deep inside Amungi, a strange warmth stirred. And neither of them knew why. Not yet.
