One of the rare instances when American history schoolbooks mention Chinese immigrants on the frontier is to summarize their participation in building the Central Pacific Railroad as part of the first transcontinental railroad. I found a great deal more information related to this subject with my own research, though particulars are rarely offered at the public school level.
