CHAPTER 8

CAELINA The rest of the ride was torture. Trying to stay calm through everything after what he'd said was hard. My cheeks burned red. I tried my best to stay calm after he'd called me mysterious. I couldn't give him any suspicion. What was I even thinking when I said my parents were traders? I could've said something else. Travelers. Outcasts. No, that wouldn't work. It would only make him more interested in knowing where I was from and if my lips failed me again, he'd figure I was telling a lie. That would make everything fall apart. Everything I struggled to put together would fall to the ground. That couldn't happen. I bit hard on my lower lip, trying my best to keep it all together. But it was hard. He was close. His scent filled my nostrils. It was so thick in the air that it soon became the only thing in the air. It clung to every air I took in and wrapped tightly around each and every one of my exhales. Heat scaled against my flesh. My wolf went into heat. In the car. With him beside me. Trying to suppress the waves of fear crashing down my veins was hard. Alejandro sat beside me, his eyes trained on the driver. His previous words rang in my mind no matter how hard I tried to get it out. What did he mean by he liked that I was mysterious? Did he know something? I turned my gaze from the mirror and fixed it on him. It was supposed to be for a quick second. But I lost complete control of myself. My jaw dropped. And a line of drool trailed die the side of my lips. I stared into his eyes, my n*****s pebbling as the heat clinging to my flesh got to it. I tried to stop them from pebbling but it was already too late. He noticed I was staring and turned. His eyes met mine. I tried to cut the connection logging between us. I failed. Woefully. My eyes trailed lower and I took in every detail. His broad chest. His shoulders. His build. My eyes lingered on his chest for a second as I admired the light material of the shirt he had on. I knew I wasn’t supposed to say this but I wanted to see what was beneath it. I wanted to see his abs. I was curious. What the hell was I thinking? Get him out of your head, Caelina. I repeat. Get. Him. Out. Of. Your. Head. But it was too late. The mere brush of my dress's fabric against my n*****s triggered me. I bit hard into my lower lip to hold in the moan threatening to roll out of my lips. “Let me guess. You're eye f*****g me. Again?” I yanked out of the web of dark thoughts circling my mind. “I was staring at the driver’s se—” I wanted to lie. He stopped me. His index finger pressed against my lips, shutting me up. I did shut up. And his fingers left my lips for my jaw. He gripped it tightly before he pulled close. The heat flaring beneath my skin intensified. I tried to get my lips to open. To tell him to back away from me. Anything that'd make him get away from me. But it was already too late. His grip tightened and his lips came for mine. Our lips crashed. Rough. Hot. Unplanned. The kiss was everything that shouldn't have been. Yet, it was good. It dragged me to the edge yet left me wanting— no, craving more. I couldn't open my lips to ask. He saw the gleams in my eyes and didn't hesitate to pull back. “You look sexy when you lie? Makes me want to break you right here. In the car. But I have manners.” I stayed there breathless as I watched him pull back. Just then, the cra came to a halt in front of an office. The driver came out first, circling the cra as he opened the door for him. Alejandro stepped out and I couldn't help but notice the amount of stares he received. Everyone passing by paused to stare. I get that he was a really attractive man. But what I saw in the eyes of the passerbys, weren't just lust, fear glistened in the eyes of many. And I saw the way the ladies kept their eyes trained on him. The driver closed the door shortly after and I gasped. If he was out then where was he taking me? “Where are we headed?” I asked out loud, my voice croaking out. The driver got back into the car and whined down all of the windows before he turned to face me. “To the other entrance with less prying eyes.” A wave of relief came with knowing I was still safe. The driver started the car's engine and keot driving till we got to the second entrance which was at the back of the building. We had to circle the building to get there. And as he parked at the lot, I caught the sight of a bunch of other luxurious cars that I used to admire in magazines. Seeing them uptight close had shock twisting into my veins. I dragged in a whiff of air before I scooted over to the other side of the car as I reached for the doorknob. The driver's voice cut through the air. “You don't have to do that. I'm in charge of ushering you to his office.” His office? I hadn't really taken much thought of the building but now that I looked at its structure, I figured what it was. It was the house of assembly. Every one of the pack leaders had their designated offices in it. I'd already done all the research I needed to do. I recognized each and every one on the board. He wasn't part of them. None of the papers I'd read had his image. None. If he wasn't a part of the team, how did he get an office in it? Just then, the car door pulled open and the cold air outside clung to my sides, licking at them. I took my first step out of the car then took the second. The door jammed shut and I looked around, questions circling my mind. There were a lot of things I didn't know about the pack. Many many things I still didn't know yet. But I couldn't blame myself. Alejandro was a man of mystery himself. He had danger written all over him. I still walked into his world knowing what it meant. I had to do it for my parents. My pack. I was going to make him pay. I just didn't know how yet. “Follow me.” The driver ordered and I followed him as he led me to the back entrance. It had just two guards standing by it and for the most part, they looked like sculptures. They didn't move. But their presence alone was terrifying. Alejandro's words echoed in my head as I made my way towards the door. “Mysterious, ugh? I like it.” His words echoed in my head. He didn't know where I came from. He couldn't. He barely knew me. The only thing he knew was that I was a college student trying to make ends meet with stripping and that I was his mate. There was nothing else to talk about. If he asked such a question again, I'd have a better lie cooked up by then. I'd make sure it came out smoothly so he'd buy into it. When we got to the door, the driver stopped in front of the gate and signaled to the guards. “We have to scan the b***h of you first to endure we don't have any spies.” They're eyes lingered on me for a long time. I held my breath the entire while. They brought out the scanner and swabbed it at me first. No sounds came. I let out a gasp of relief. Not that I was expecting an alarm to go off but it felt good knowing I was off their radar. They scanned the driver next and then they opened the door for us. The hallways that appeared in front of me were luxurious. It was furnished to the very end. As the door opened, I strolled in, my eyes scanning everything in my path. It didn't take long before we got to an elevator and I walked in. My heart was heavy in my chest the whole while. This was a whole new setting. A new world that I'd thrust myself in. As the door opened, I walked out, my eyes fixed on the door at the other end of the room. I made my way to the other end of the room and I reached for the doorknob and grabbed it. Tightly. The driver waited outside. I stepped in. He was the first person I sighted. The room was highly furnished. None of the beautiful decor caught my eye, he did. My n*****s pebbled hard against the fabric of my dress. “Come here.” He commanded. I started moving slowly as heat slid in between my legs. And when I got close enough, he got out of his seat, his eyes never leaving mine as he made his eyes towards me. And he caught a tight grip on my jaw. His lips dragged close and I closed my eyes, ready to receive him. A damp sensation clouded my panties. I was already soaking my panties at his touch. “Alejandro..” I moaned his name softly as I awaited his lips but they never came. I pulled my eyes open to his dark eyes and a smirk at the edge of his lips. His fingers left mine. “f**k, you're soaked.” He lowered his gaze to my tightly clenched thighs. I creased my brow, my heart heavy in my chest. “That's good. I want more of that tonight. For now, have this envelope, it's the payment slip for your fees. I sorted them out.” Joy gripped me. However, he didn't let me have that moment. His voice cut through the air. “You may leave. I'll have my driver pick you up at 10:00 PM. On the dot.” And with that, he ended. “You may leave.” I turned, hurrying for the door, turned on and struggling to catch my breath. Alejandro was a lot of things. I could already tell this was going to be a ride. One I hope might not throw off my feet.
