CHAPTER 12 - FIGHT - CHRISTIAN'S POV

1502 Words
"Why did Zan deceive us?" I inquired to my brothers through the link as we made our way back to our line, casting wary glances over our shoulders in case Emory chose to strike early. "She claimed she didn't know Azana, that was a lie." "Perhaps she's just scared," Zaiden suggested, his tone revealing his own hurt. "She doesn't know us yet, but she'll learn to trust us eventually." ''Do either of you think that Zan... is actually Azana?'' I asked, finally voicing my suspicions. ''Of course not'' Toby shook his head ''She'D tell us if she was Zanny, '' ''Maybe she hates us.'' I said sadly. My brothers didn't know the truth about Azana's abduction, and I couldn't even say outloud to myself. "What about what he mentioned regarding her sleeping in his bed and killing for him?" Toby interjected. "Just ignore him, he's nothing but a lying jerk," I retorted sharply. "She told us she's a virgin." "She could have been lying," Zaiden countered. "Look, now isn't the time to be dwelling on this nonsense," I snapped again. "Let’s concentrate on this fight, and then we'll sort things out with her." "Deal," Toby replied, unaffected as always. Sometimes, I envied his carefree outlook on life. The atmosphere was charged with tension as we surveyed the battlefield, observing Emory as he traversed the ranks of his army, engaging with them. Western was eager for battle, yearning to confront the enemy that had dared to encroach on our territory, fueled by a desire to take down Emory, the one who had harmed our mate. My parents barked out orders to our pack, and as Emory's forces began to shift, which caused a chorus of growls resonating through our line, every member poised for action, as we all shifted too. ''HOLD!'' Our father commanded within our minds, but Western resisted the urge to obey. Being an Alpha under the control of another Alpha was challenging, and we longed to be unleashed. Finally, as Emory's troops advanced, I felt a thrill of anticipation as Western's claws sank deep into the earth, the shackles on his neck rising in response to the imminent conflict. ''Come on. Come on. Let us fight,'' Western said to himself as his head swang from the enemy to our father. ''NOW!'' Our father bellowed at last, spurring Western forward, his blood simmering with the thrill of combat and his heart racing in exhilaration. As we closed in on our first target, a large gray Lycan who foolishly attempted to seize him by the throat, Western swiftly pivoted and clamped his jaws around the Lycan's neck instead, shaking his head violently and tearing the creature apart before moving on to pursue another victim. Nearby, two Lycans engaged in a ferocious struggle, one of ours was clamping down hard on the opponent's shoulder while the enemy retaliated with a swift kick. Western intervened, slashing his claws across the foe’s chest, watching him bleed out before shifting his focus to the next Lycan. ''Thank you, Alpha,'' A pack member acknowledged. ''All good, stay focused,'' I replied, keeping my gaze sharp. As the battle raged on, a sudden burst of light flickered around us, and Western turned to see a figure nearby, hands raised, crackling with electricity. ''Sh*t.'' I said in awe. ''Is this the kind of people Zan had been exposed to?'' Western walked towards the man. He smelt of mold and urine, and there was a collar around his neck. He was clearly under Emory's control too, just as our mate had been. Was this what Zan looked like when Harrison found her? That thought sent a rage through me that I couldn't let go of, but it fueled Western on. Being from the royal line had it's perks, I was able to link anyone, even if they weren't from my pack, so I linked the boy. ''You don't have to die today.'' I told him ''We can help you. We can get that collar off you, like we did with Zan and Emmet.'' ''He has my mate.'' The boy said back. ''I would rather die here, then survive knowing she will be killed.'' ''Does she have powers too?'' Western asked as he paced around the man, keeping a vigilant stance. ''Yes.'' ''Than he won't kill her.'' I pointed out ''We can try to save you both.'' ''You don't know Emory.'' He shook his head ''He'll kill her to get back at me, even if she was the most powerful being on the planet.'' ''I see.'' I said sadly ''Then we're sorry, but if it comes to your life or ours, we're chosing ours.'' ''I'm sorry too.'' He held up his hands and electricity shot up all over his skin. ''Before we do this.'' I said quickly ''Have you seen a girl called Azana?'' ''Azana? You mean Emory's favorite pet.'' He asked in amusement ''Yes, I've seen her, and I hope she gets her revenge.'' Before I could ask anything more. The man threw out his hands and the electricity shot out, hitting Western in the chest, but it didn't hurt him at all. In fact, I didn't even feel anything. The mans eyes widened as Western acted instictively and pounced at the man, crushing his skull in his mouth and ripping his head from his neck. As he spat the head onto the ground, he looked down at his chest ''Why didn't it hurt us?'' ''No clue, maybe we're ammune of something, just keep fighting.'' As Western circled another Lycan, this one a dark brown specimen with blood dripping from its fur, a loud crack of thunder echoed overhead, and the skies grew even darker. With a sudden burst of energy, both Lycans leapt at each other, but as the brown Lycans claws extended, Western effortlessly darted to the side, his movements precise and fluid. He flicked his tail into the brown Lycans eyes, momentarily blinding it before he executed a swift spin, his muscles coiled tightly as he launched himself forward, raking his claws down the adversary's back, tearing through fur, flesh, and cutting deep into his spine. The Lycan howled in agony as it collapsed to the ground, and Western circled around to its head, leaping forcefully onto the back of its neck, snapping it and leaving the defeated Lycan to die, choking on its own blood, before he moved on once again. We continued to fight, easily going through Emory's ranks, but he was out target. We wanted him. As rain poured down once more as Western maneuvered through the brawling Lycans, claws clashing and flesh tearing, sending bloody remnants scattering across the ground. In the chaos, we caught sight of Emory again. He stood amidst the wreckage, a disturbingly wide grin spreading across his face, reveling in the violence before him. "Mate was stuck with that monster for years," Western said, his voice heavy with sorrow. "Then let's take him down for her, and present her with his bloody heart as a trophy," I suggested with grim enthusiasm. "Great idea," I added with a smile. "Toby, Denny, we need to get in there. I want Emory." "I'm on it," Tobias replied, his breath coming in gasps. "Just a moment! I'm coming," Zaiden called as he dealt with his own foes. While we awaited their arrival, Western kept up his relentless assault, skillfully dispatching his adversaries without a hint of mercy. Despite Emory's so-called gifted Lycans, we were gaining the upper hand in this battle. Toby and Scout were the first to reach us, but Zaiden and Cooper were still engaged in combat, so we quickly rushed to support them. We coordinated our strike and swiftly took down the two Lycans threatening Cooper, who was panting heavily and splattering blood. "You alright?" Tobias asked Cooper, concerned. "Yeah," Cooper replied, determination in his voice. "Let’s finish this and take him down." Before we could continue our strategy, a shot rang out, and both Western and I were struck in the chest by a massive black bullet. Western let out a howl of pain that reverberated through the devastated landscape as he collapsed to the ground. "WESTERN! KIT!" Our brothers shouted in alarm. Summoning what strength I had left, I managed to shift, but the transformation left my chest searing with agony, exposing my ribs as if acid were coursing through my veins. I was screaming in anguish. Cooper shifted and Zaiden rushed to my side. ''CHRISTIAN!'' He grabbed my arms as Toby and Scout paced around us, keeping enemy soliders off us. I was feeling it difficult to breath now and I grabbed my brothers hand with as much force as I had left ''I want to see Zan before I die. Take me to her.'' ''You're not going to die, shut up!'' ''TAKE ME!'' I shouted, but my vision began to fade. I looked up to see Emory standing over me, a gun in his hand and a sinister smile on his face, before everything dissolved into darkness.
