Again I have the dream of the grand halls roof bursting open and a man coming down from a blinding light I try hard to make out his image but the light is so bright none of are lava lights could ever compare I hear the hey you guys and open my eyes. I look around my room and then remember that today my nightmare is better than the day I have up a head of me. Yesterday I was introduced to the vampire King and Prince and never got to actually speak to the Prince I'm betrothed to once after finding out that the Prince was moving in I was told to go back to my room and my studies and that today I would have a date with the Prince. My first ever date was going to be planned out by my Grandmother and the vampire King.
With a huge ugh of complaint I got out of my bed and headed to my changing corridor luckily for me Silver was still getting ready for the day when I walked in. "How did I ever get so lucky to be able to share a changing corridor with you?, I cooed as I started my daily tradition of throwing the whole bowl of rose petals into the bath water.
Silver turned and gave me a I am already ready to kill you look before relying, " I don't know something about a five year old you throwing a tantrum and everyone agreeing because one of us was bond to be the crowned princess or something like that?"
I gasped dramatically, "I would never throw a tantrum it is unbecoming of a Princess," I said while throwing my right hand up towards my heart. Silver rolled her eyes and finished applying her make up before coming over to help me. I had already begun washing my hair when she made it over. "So whats on your agenda for the day?" I asked after dunking my head washing the soap out of my hair.
"Today the agenda is empty, unfortunately " Silver said in her famously small voice. I could tell by looking at her that she was hoping to spend the day with the mystery guy.
"Do I need to find out who this mystery guy is and hurt him? As you know I'm pretty good in a fight," I said while putting up my fist in a defensive stance in front of my face. Silver giggled and splashed water at me cutting through my defense and surprising me enough to make me gasp. "Hey there Missy I'll have you know I have a super important date today," I started off cocky then finished my sentence in defeat.
Silver looked at me with her knowing eyes before taking my hair and beginning to braid it into a half crown ponytail. " I know this is not how you wanted your first date to be, and I know you wanted to fall in love with a hero or a knight in shinning armor or just any character of the many books you've read, but you never know. Maybe there will be magic and maybe you'll fall in love with the Prince you never know your and his story could be the makings of your very own love story," she said. Silver and her small voice always had a way of making me feel better and she was right I couldn't go into this thinking negatively or I'd ruin it before it ever had a shot so with that I got ready and headed to the grand hall to meet Prince Blaine.
Prince Blaine yet again wore a black suit that washed him out but brought out his intense blue eyes. I had tried to talk to him when I met up with him but he had just taken my hand and began to lead me to a small dining area only the royal or top witches ever ate at. Once the waitress a small little brunette girl who had freckles and brown eyes seated us I heard Prince Blaine's voice for the first time, "I am sorry to be a bother but I am Prince Blaine I was told to tell you my name and you would get me my drink special?" He half asked he had a deep but soft voice the kind you could easily fall asleep to but also listen to all day. The waitress nodded quickly then looked at me.
"Oh, ummmm do you have honey tea by any chance?" I asked. She nodded before writing in her note pad and walking off. "Soooooo, how are you liking our clan so far?" I asked Prince Blaine.
He looked at me for a moment as if thinking before answering, "It is different it is not what I expected it to be." He said simply without giving me a clue as to whether different was a good or bad thing.
Silence took over our table before our waitress came back with two drinks my honey tea and a cup full of animal blood. "Here you two are and have you decided on a meal Princess?" the waitress asked.
"I'll just have whatever salad is on the special," I said with a shrug. I noticed Prince Blaine give me a confused look but it was quickly replaced with his unreadable stare. Unfortunately for him I noticed it and decided it was time to get to know mister stern face. "So how's your blood?", I started off with the easy question.
"It is different..." he said again.
"Different huh? Okay so what so different about it?" I asked.
"Well if you must know it is the first time I have ever had blood this fresh," he answered. There was a hint of emotion in that answer amusement maybe? It was all I needed to play bigger.
"Ah, okay so it is good then that's good, so what about our clan is unexpected?" I asked.
"Well it is brighter than I thought and the people are kinder than I thought they would be given everything" he answered honestly to my surprise. Here I was ready to fight for the answer in a game of cat and mouse and he just handed the answer over. Maybe I had Prince Blaine pegged wrong and maybe I hadn't gone into this as clear headed as I had thought I was.
The date went on with us both asking small unimportant uninteresting questions. At first I didn't think anything of it. Maybe Prince Blaine is boring and I was about to give up hope when I asked him about his dad and seen fear in his eyes he said he had a good dad and steered the conversation back to my home and I realized him playing coy about my home was the bait and like a mouse I had fallen right into the trap.
