I called Sharon the next day after my meeting. I asked her to meet me for lunch. My intention was to take her to a local jeweler and purchase an engagement ring. I wanted it to be a surprise. We met at a small restaurant near my office. After we had our lunch, we walked down the street and I ushered her into the jewelry store. It took her a few minutes to understand why we were there. When the jeweler presented several engagement rings for her to inspect, I noticed a tear appearing on her cheek. I had never seen her sentimental side in the past. We picked out a ring. She wore it out of the store.
Sharon said that she had called her parents the night before and informed them she was getting married.
