Wrenna POV Wrenna’s hand slowly moved to the back of her head, hissing—pulling back her hand to reveal a wet and sticky substance. Blood. Birds chirped around her, and the wet smell of moss entered her nostrils. She pushed herself up, the damp earth creeping under her fingernails as she forced herself onto her knees. The air felt different here. Thick...making it hard to breath. Magic, her wolf—Nyra—said, but her voice seemed far away, as if their connection was dimmed, or maybe, she too was adjusting to the new place they were in. Her head spun as she gasped for air. She’d taken portals before—thanks to her witchy aunts, but never one like that. It had felt as if the darkness had crept into her lungs, stolen her breath—trying to rip her apart from the inside out.
