THE PATH TO VENGEANCE "What would you like for breakfast ma'am?"asked Mrs.Julian, Mr Stewart's cook and domestic assistant. "Oh my, it's 8am already. I thought I told you to wake me early enough Mrs. Julian?" Jasmine asked. "I need to freshen up speedily as I have some appointments to catch up. I need to visit my manager and check up on my mum later in the day. A cup of hot tea and a few slices of bread will be fine please". "Okay ma'am. I have this note for you also. The boss asked me to send this to you as he left very early. He said the insurance company informed him to come over as his claims are ready". Mrs Julian handed over the note to Jasmine as she went through it curiously. As Jasmine read through, she sighed and laid back on her bed. Mr Stewart, not wanting to disturb her sleep, left rather early. He had indicated on his short note that he was to meet with the insurance company for claims on damages done to his Ferrari. As Jasmine finished reading, she had a flashback of the entire scenario that led to the damage. She remembered some weeks back prior to their marriage, how she and Mr Stewart were driving to the hospital to go and see her mum when Lewis called. The results of what transpired that moment left her devastated as she was overpowered and just had to let go. Jasmine commanded Mr Stewart to pull over so she would alight and catch up with Lewis, but Mr Stewart vehemently refused. There was an argument and a resultant struggle inside the car. Jasmine had her hands on the steering wheel trying to drag and pull over at the same time Mr Stewart was still driving. Mr Stewart sensed she was head bent on having her way so he slowed down, and simultaneously, he forcefully pushed her hands away, and overpowered her and hurt her in the process. As he was managing to negotiate a bend and pull over, he lost control and crashed into a covet just by the roadside. That left some big dents and scratches on His Ferrari. He was fuming with rage at this point. They both returned back to their senses soon after the incident, became calm after the fiasco and were taken into custody as two uniformed officers immediately appeared to walk them away for questioning. They spent hours explaining what caused what and who was to be blamed. After all said and done, they were later released. Neither Mr Stewart nor Jasmine were able to proceed to the hospital that day, and Jasmine also lost touch as she couldn't catch up with Lewis Miguel, her manager again. Lewis eventually substituted Jasmine and went on the trip with someone else to meet up with the deadline given him as well as secure the contract. After many weeks, Lewis returned and sent Jasmine a text message to meet him in his hotel room so they could iron out unresolved issues. The first few weeks of marriage to Mr Stewart have been of fatal consequences to her mental health. They have had bouts of serious arguments severally about her career, his frequent trips, lack of attention, lack of freedom of expression for Jasmine and several other matters. As she rose up from the bed, she had hoped the day's events would turn out better as she vowed to do everything possible to see Lewis, explain her plight and begin to plot her way out of the b*****e of marrying Mr Stewart. She had her bath in a hurry, took her light breakfast, spoke to her mum on phone and then left to reconnect with Lewis, her manager and ex lover. As she got to Lewis's hotel room, he welcomed her with open arms and got her something to drink as they started their conversation. "So you mean your mum coerced you into marrying MSJ?", Lewis asked. "So how come you hid all these from me right from the onset?" "Who is MSJ?" Jasmine asked. "Oh sorry, I mean Mr Stewart Jones. That's what I know a lotta people call him way back in the days". "Wait a minute. I never told you anything about Mr. Stewart and how I ended up marrying him. How come you know him?"Jasmine asked. "Listen Jasmine, it's a long story. And that's one of the reasons why I invited you here, so I can take my pound of flesh and revenge". "Revenge? How, where, when? Talk to me Lewis. What's all this about", Jasmine said. "Yes Jasmine. I can't sit back and watch MSJ take what's mine for the second time and go scot free. It will never happen". "Remember I told you I lost my dad while I was still a teenager. Mr Stewart Jones killed my father". "My dad worked as a*****e manager in a courier company many years ago. A client brought two packages labeled MSJ to him for clearance". "After scanning the contents, they were discovered to be narcotics and substances local authorities had banned. That batch of consignment was restricted". "Mr Stewart Jones put a call through to him to authorize the release of the two packages with inscriptions of MSJ written on them or risk fatal consequences". "The next day, I went with my dad to the storehouse and watched as a car suddenly drove into the yard with escorts a few minutes after noon". "Mr Stewart came and confronted my dad and made an offer to compensate him heavily with money if he would release his package to get a pass for flight". "I hid behind the back counter and watched as MSJ and his escorts murdered my father. I watched helplessly in agony as he dropped dead in his pool of blood and then they ransacked the shelf, saw his package and left almost immediately". "I cried for help but none came. The news of my father's death was devastating to my mother as she took ill and eventually had a stroke". Jasmine listened and watched with keen attention as Lewis spoke. The narration by Lewis left her gazing into his eyeballs in fury. Suddenly, Lewis touched her hands and said. "Jasmine, I can't sit back and watch Mr Stewart take my father from me by killing him and now he has taken you from me". "I want you back Jasmine. I lost the contract because my presentations were not done perfectly with my best hands. I missed you Jasmine and I want you back in my life. MSJ shouldn't stand between us and our dreams, my love". "I deeply feel your pain Lewis, and I share the same opinion", Jasmine replied. "Mr Stewart also killed my dreams. He took away my passion. He took away the true affection I shared with my mum. And now he has me in the clutches of his dungeon called marriage". Jasmine began to cry. "Sorry you lost the contract Lew. Sorry you lost your dad also. It's too late now as I am married to Mr Stewart and don't know how that can change any moment soon Lew". Lewis moved closer to her. He drew her closer and made her rest her head on his shoulder. "No Jasmine, don't say that. You know how deeply we love each other. We will fight this through and I vow to get you out of this b*****e and make sure Mr Stewart goes to jail for all his crimes". Lewis held Jasmine passionately and remembered the lovely moments they shared together in the past. His hands reached out to her arms and as he began to stroke her arm, he felt part of her skin on her right arm quite awkward. He paused, took a look at the surface, saw the scar and asked her. "What's this Jasmine? Why this scar on your skin? What happened?". Jasmine had to narrate the car incident to him and told him how he overpowered her as he dragged and forced her hands off the steering, almost strangled her and then hurting her in the process as well as the eventual auto crash. Lewis became more angry and told Jasmine he has a plan and he would need her help to take vengeance on Mr Stewart. "It's okay Lewis, I am with you on this. What's the plan? Let me in on the details and let's get started”, Jasmine exclaimed. "Very good Jasmine, that's what I need to hear right now. You will join me to take vengeance. Now this is what we will do".
