GOOD TIME “I'm sorry” was a phrase Lexa struggled to utter. Shame washed over her as she realized her emotions were bringing misfortune to those around her. “That's exactly the problem, Lexa,” Jaded replied, a steely edge to her voice. “I don’t want your apologies. What I need is for you to take a step back. Quit your job at Alexander’s and get the hell out of his life. Trust me, you'd be doing me a huge favor.” Lexa felt a rush of emotions, her chest tightening at Jade's request. She wanted to scream, to fight back, yet she found herself frozen, her mind racing with contradictory thoughts. Did Jade honestly think she could intimidate her into abandoning her desires? “Why do you think I’ll just walk away?” Lexa shot back, her voice gaining strength despite the trembling in her hands
